The Invisible Informer
''The Invisible Informer'' is a 1946 action film starring Linda Stirling, William Henry, and Adele Mara. Plot Insurance investigators Eve Rogers and Mike Reagan are assigned to a Louisiana case involving a stolen emerald necklace, following a private detective's death. Disagreeing over how to work the case, Eve and Mike decide to do so separately, not revealing their true identities to their suspects, the Baylor family. Rosalind Baylor confides that she and her mother despise brother Eric and relate how another brother, David, committed suicide. Eric takes a romantic interest in Eve, which becomes mutual, even though he is under suspicion. Mike, meantime, teams with Marie Revelle, a woman he meets, unaware that she is secretly Eric's lover. Linda Stirling (born Louise Schultz; October 11, 1921 – July 20, 1997) was an American showgirl, model, and actress. In her later years, she had a second career as a college English professor for more than two decades. She is most famous for her roles in movie serials. Early years The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alex Schultz, Stirling was born in Long Beach, California. She attended Burnett Grammar School, George Washington Junior High School, and Long Beach Polytechnic High School. She began studying drama when she was 12, and she eventually studied for two years at Ben Bard's Academy of Dramatic Arts. She also was active in the Long Beach Players' Guild. William Albert Henry (November 10, 1914 – August 10, 1982) was an American actor who worked in both films and television. Biography Born in Los Angeles, California, Henry started as a child actor, then was a hero in B-movies (mainly westerns), and ended his career as a character actor. He appeared in various roles on episodes of many television series. He was a member of the John Ford Stock Company and appeared twelve times for Ford. He also appeared in John Wayne's '' The Alamo'' (1960); in this version of the famous siege, Henry's character, Dr. Sutherland, is the last of the defenders to be killed. Henry was active with the Pasadena Community Playhouse. Adele Mara (born Adelaida Delgado; April 28, 1923 – May 7, 2010) was an American actress, singer, and dancer, who appeared in films during the 1940s and 1950s and on television in the 1950s and 1960s. Early years Mara was born in Highland Park, Michigan, to Spanish parents. She had a brother, Luis, who became an actor. Peggy Stewart (born Peggy O'Rourke; June 5, 1923 – May 29, 2019) was an American actress known for her roles in Western B movies and television series. Early life Stewart was born in West Palm Beach, Florida, where she was raised, the daughter of John Francis O'Rourke and Frances Velma (McCampbell) Splane, who were from Bessemer, Alabama. Gerald Mohr (June 11, 1914 – November 9, 1968) was an American radio, film, and television character actor and frequent leading man, who appeared in more than 500 radio plays, 73 films, and over 100 television shows. Early years Mohr was born in Manhattan to Henrietta (née Neustadt), a singer, and Sigmond Mohr. He was educated in Dwight Preparatory School in Manhattan, where he learned to speak French and German and also learned to ride horses and play the piano. Claire Du Brey (born Clara Violet Dubreyvich, August 31, 1892 – August 1, 1993) was an American actress. She appeared in more than 200 films between 1916 and 1959. Her name is sometimes rendered as Claire Du Bray or as Claire Dubrey.
