The Hexer (film)
''The Hexer'' or ''The Witcher'' (Polish: ''Wiedźmin'') is a 2001 Polish fantasy film directed by Marek Brodzki and written by Michał Szczerbic. It stars Michał Żebrowski as Geralt of Rivia. The story is based on the books and stories of ''The Witcher'' written by Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski. The 13-episode television series came out the following year. The film has been described as essentially the then-unreleased television series condensed into a two-hour film, and received very poor reviews from both fans and critics. The film was the first attempt to depict ''The Witcher'' universe in the cinema. Marek Brodzki
Marek Brodzki (born 25 December 1960) is a Polish film director and television director. He directed the film and series versions of ''Wiedźmin'' aka ''The Hexer'' and the series ''Miasteczko''. He has worked as First Assistant Director with top Polish directors Andrzej Wajda and Krzysztof Zanussi and has specialized as a Polish First Assistant Director and Second Unit Director on international productions made in Poland notably including Steven Spielberg's ''Schindler's List'' and has a long working relationship with German director Volker Schlöndorff. October 2015 he was awarded the Bronze Medal for Merit to Culture – Gloria Artis. He is married to Production Manager, Casting Director, First Assistant Director Ewa Brodzka. Andrzej Chyra
Andrzej Chyra (born 27 August 1964) is a Polish actor and a member of the Polish Film Academy and the European Film Academy. Life and career He graduated from high school and in 1987 he graduated from the Acting Theater School in Warsaw. In 1994, he majored at the same university in directing. He made his film debut in 1993, with the role of Benvollo in the film ''Order of Affection'', directed by Radosław Piwowarski. The largest role so far that brought him recognition was as Gerard Nowak in the 1999 film '' The Debt'' (''Dług'') by Krzysztof Krauze, for which he was awarded the Best Actor award at the Polish Film Festival in Gdynia. ''Wiedźmin'' is a 2001 album with music of Grzegorz Ciechowski for the film '' The Hexer'', directed by Marek Brodzki, which was an adaptation of the collection of short stories by Andrzej Sapkowski of the same title. The album contains 22 compositions. In 2002, Ciechowski received (posthumously) the Polish Film Awards for the album in the "Best Score" category. The album has been certified "gold" by the Polish Society of the Phonographic Industry. The Fryderyk is the annual award in Polish music. Its name refers to the original Polish spelling variant of Polish composer Frédéric Chopin's first name. Its status in the Polish public can be compared to the American Grammy and the UK's BRIT Award. Officially created in 1994 and presented for the first time in 1995, the award was initially conferred by the Polish Society of the Phonographic Industry (''Związek Producentów Audio-Video'', ZPAV). Since 1999, nominees and winners have been selected by a body called Phonographic Academy (''Akademia Fonograficzna'') which by now consists of nearly 1000 artists, journalists and music industry professionals. Rotten Tomatoes is an American review-aggregation website for film and television. The company was launched in August 1998 by three undergraduate students at the University of California, Berkeley: Senh Duong, Patrick Y. Lee, and Stephen Wang. Filmweb is an online database of information related to films, television series, actors and film crew personnel. Since 2011, the database also contains video games. Filmweb was launched on March 18, 1998. It is a Polish-language site, and the largest Polish film database. History Filmweb was created by Artur Gortych, and launched on March 18, 1998. On January 20, 2000, it became the first Polish website available through Wireless Application Protocol. In 2005, Filmweb PRO (aimed at entertainment professionals) was launched. Daniel Marcel Olbrychski (; born 27 February 1945) is a Polish film and theatre actor who is widely considered one of the greatest Polish actors of his generation. He appeared in 180 films and TV productions and is best known for leading roles in several Andrzej Wajda movies including '' The Promised Land'' and also known for playing a defector and spymaster Vassily Orlov alongside Hollywood actress Angelina Jolie in the movie ''Salt''.
