Heretic
Heresy is any belief or theory that is strongly at variance with established beliefs or customs, in particular the accepted beliefs of a church or religious organization. The term is usually used in reference to violations of important religious teachings, but is also used of views strongly opposed to any generally accepted ideas. A heretic is a proponent of heresy. The term is used particularly in reference to Christianity, Judaism, and Islam. In certain historical Christian, Muslim, and Jewish cultures, among others, espousing ideas deemed heretical has been (and in some cases still is) met with censure ranging from excommunication to the death penalty. ''Heretic'' is the third studio album by the band Naked City, used as a soundtrack for the underground S/M film ''Jeux des Dames Cruelles''. The album utilises different combinations of band members in duos and trios with the entire band performing together on only one track "Fire and Ice". According to the Knitting Factory, "''Heretic'' is an experimental narrative in the form of an extended trailer. A very funny take on psychotherapy starring Karen Finley." Charles Kay Ogden (; 1 June 1889 – 20 March 1957) was an English linguist, philosopher, and writer. Described as a polymath but also an eccentric and outsider, he took part in many ventures related to literature, politics, the arts, and philosophy, having a broad effect particularly as an editor, translator, and activist on behalf of a reformed version of the English language. He is typically defined as a linguistic psychologist, and is now mostly remembered as the inventor and propagator of Basic English. Heretic Films is an American film production company, based in the mountain resort town of Park City, Utah. Heretic is known for working with artists, both new and established, on their passion projects. History Films was founded in 2012 by Burton Ritchie and Ben Galecki after a short, initial incarnation as Rather Good Film, co-founded with Daniel-Konrad Cooper. Shortly after its transition to Heretic Films, Gregory Segal joined the company along with board members Kevin Pollak and Jason Alexander. Segal left the company in October 2015. ''Heretic II'' is a dark fantasy action-adventure game developed by Raven Software and published by Activision in 1998 continuing the story of Corvus, the main character from its predecessor, '' Heretic''. It is the fourth game in the '' Hexen: Beyond Heretic'' series and comes after the "Serpent Rider" trilogy. Although Id Software owns the publishing rights to the previous titles, ''Heretic 2'' is owned by Activision since they own Raven Software and its IPs. Using a modified ''Quake II'' engine, the game features a mix of a third-person camera with a first-person shooter's action, making for a new gaming experience at the time. While progressive, this was a controversial design decision among fans of the original game, a well-known first-person shooter built on the ''Doom'' engine. The music was composed by Kevin Schilder. ''Heretic'' is a dark fantasy first-person shooter video game released in December 1994. It was developed by Raven Software and published by id Software through GT Interactive. Using a modified version of the ''Doom'' engine, ''Heretic'' was one of the first first-person games to feature inventory manipulation and the ability to look up and down. It also introduced multiple gib objects that spawned when a character suffered a death by extreme force or heat. Previously, the character would simply crumple into a heap. The game used randomised ambient sounds and noises, such as evil laughter, chains rattling, distantly ringing bells, and water dripping in addition to the background music to further enhance the atmosphere. ''Heretic'' is a modern dance work by Martha Graham performed to ''Tetus Breton'', an old folk tune from Brittany. Louis Horst, Graham's musical director, recommended the song, part of the collection ''Chansons de la Fleur de Lys'' as arranged by Charles De Sivry. The dance premiered with the title ''Heretic'' at New York's Booth Theatre on April 14, 1929. In a previous program announcement, the work was called ''A Faith''. Graham presented the piece with her company; the performance marked the debut of her concert ensemble. ''Deep Six'' is a 1986 compilation album featuring six Seattle-based rock bands. It was the first release by C/Z Records, with a catalogue number of CZ01 for 2,000 copies. ''Heretic'' is the seventh studio album by the Florida death metal band Morbid Angel. This would be their last under Earache Records, as the band decided not to renew its contract, and also the last to feature Pete Sandoval and with Steve Tucker until his return on 2017's '' Kingdoms Disdained''. The album was recorded at Diet of Worms Studios by Juan Gonzalez. ''Heretic'' is the band's first album not recorded at Morrisound Recording.
