The Hairbrain Scheme
The Hairbrain Scheme is a band that formed in 2004. From an early age, the band demonstrated a unique flair for bizarre stage theatrics and morbidly delicious musical experimentation. Incorporating elements of new wave, jazz, hardcore, and classic rock into a cohesive new flavor of pop rock that features heavy use of keyboards and bass guitar, the HBS has consistently demonstrated broad appeal and a strong ability to turn skeptics into admirers. The band has played some of the West Coast's top venues and has earned opening gigs for a broad range of major acts that includes The Walkmen, Ima Robot, Busta Rhymes, Deadsy, RJD2, Damian Marley, and Mickey Avalon. Scheme members Grant Parsons, Nate Harris, Chris Nava and Dan Bellinger have built a reputation for putting on lively performances that leave a lasting impression on unsuspecting audiences. Ramble Jon Krohn (born May 27, 1976), better known by his stage name RJD2, is an American musician based in Columbus, Ohio. He is the owner of record label RJ's Electrical Connections. He has been a member of groups such as Soul Position, MHz Legacy, and Icebird. His stage name derives from the popular ''Star Wars'' droid R2-D2. Mickey Avalon (born Yeshe Perl; December 3, 1975) is an American rapper from Hollywood, California. His debut self-titled solo album was released Nov. 7, 2006 on Interscope/Shoot to Kill Records in association with MySpace Records. Frequent topics of Avalon's songs are his experiences with substance abuse and prostitution. Early life Avalon was raised in a Jewish family and had a turbulent childhood. His paternal grandparents were Holocaust survivors who were imprisoned at Auschwitz. Though his father cleaned up his act and began attending Alcoholics Anonymous, he was struck and severely injured by a drunk driver leaving a meeting. Deadsy is an American industrial rock band from Los Angeles. The band is known for its visual appearance and unique musical style the band self-describes as "undercore". The band has released two major studio albums. The band was initially signed to Sire Records, but the band's self-titled debut album for the label was shelved shortly before its 1997 release. After attempting to re-work the album, they were ultimately dropped from the label in 1999. After eventually signing to Jonathan Davis' Elementree Records, and finally releasing the album, now known as '' Commencement'', in 2002, Deadsy toured across the United States, most notably performing on the Family Values Tour. After the release of '' Phantasmagore'' on Immortal Records/Elementree in 2006, the band took a hiatus in 2007.
