''The Guest'' ( es, La visita) is a 2014 Chilean drama film written and directed by Mauricio López Fernández. The worldwide premiere was in October 2014 in competition at the Valdivia International Film Festival and later, in 2015, it was presented at the Guadalajara International Film Festival, Outfest, CinéLatino Toulouse and, also in France, at the Rencontres du Cinéma Sud-Américain, Marseille, when it won the First Prize for Best Film and Best Actress for Daniela Vega in her film debut. Plot In an old house on the outskirts of Santiago a wake ceremony for Coya's husband has been prepared. Coya is the maid who has served the family for many years, and who is already considered part of her. Outfest is an LGBTQ-oriented nonprofit that produces two film festivals, operates a movie streaming platform, and runs educational services for filmmakers in Los Angeles. Valdivia International Film Festival
The Valdivia International Film Festival (Spanish: Festival Internacional de Cine de Valdivia (FICV o FICVALDIVIA)) is an international film exhibition and competition, held annually in the city of Valdivia, Los Rios region, Chile. The festival begun in 1993 to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Cine Club of the Universidad Austral de Chile. A competition was included the following year, labeled as "Valdivia Cine & Video". That event became a milestone to cultural activity in southern Chile, promising at that time to become the greatest film event in the country.
