The Frogs (album)
The Frogs is the debut album by American rock band the Frogs. It was originally released in limited quantities (only 1010 LP copies), and was re-released on CD by Moikai Records in 1999. The album was self-produced on 8-track and took a long time to record because of the engineer's limited availability. After this album the Frogs would release recordings made at home. This debut gave listeners a mere taste of the black humor that was to follow on their second album. In 2022, an "addition" version was released onto streaming services. The Frogs (band)
The Frogs were an American rock music band founded in 1980, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, by brothers Jimmy and Dennis Flemion. The brothers mainly wrote and performed short, catchy pop songs, but they are also known for their improvised home recordings which are delivered in a comedic style, and often include controversial issues such as race, religion, and sexuality (notably homoeroticism). A history of strife has hindered the band, although a devoted fan base that includes many well-known musicians has supported the group. Synth-pop (short for synthesizer pop; also called techno-pop; ) is a subgenre of new wave music that first became prominent in the late 1970s and features the synthesizer as the dominant musical instrument. It's Only Right And Natural
''It's Only Right and Natural'' is the second album by the band The Frogs and was released in 1989 by Homestead Records. Gerard Cosloy, who was in charge of Homestead at the time, came into possession of some of the Flemion Brothers' improvised homemade tapes and signed them to the label. The Flemions were originally hoping that Homestead would release their debut album The Frogs, but Cosloy convinced them to release a gay-themed album instead. The album was recorded on 4-Track reel-to-reel in Dennis's living room and was originally meant to be for the Flemion brothers and their friends' own amusement, and was not originally considered for release. Most of the songs on the album deal with stereotypes associated with homosexuality, especially negative ones used by social conservatives. It catalogs more than three million album entries and 30 million tracks, as well as information on musicians and bands. Jimmy Flemion
Jimmy Flemion is a founding member, with his older brother Dennis Flemion, of controversial independent rock band The Frogs. Jimmy is mostly the lead singer and guitarist for the group. He has been known to play solo shows with just an acoustic guitar. In 1996, the brothers toured with The Smashing Pumpkins on the ''Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness Tour''. During the encores of "1979", Jimmy, clad with a silver bat-winged suit, would pick members of the audience to dance onstage. The brothers Flemion also appeared on the Pumpkins' "Medellia of the Gray Skies" on the band's single, '' Tonight, Tonight''. On '' Adore'', the brothers backed vocals for " To Sheila" and "Behold! Dennis Flemion
Dennis Flemion (June 6, 1955 – July 7, 2012) was a founding member, with his younger brother Jimmy, of the controversial independent rock band The Frogs. He was the primary percussionist for the band and was also a temporary member of The Smashing Pumpkins from 1996 to 1997, filling in on live keyboards following the death of Jonathan Melvoin. The Flemion brothers also appeared on "Medellia of the Gray Skies" on the band's single for " Tonight, Tonight". On '' Adore'', the brothers backed vocals for "To Sheila" and "Behold! The Night-Mare". On July 7, 2012, Flemion accidentally drowned while swimming in a lake in Racine County, Wisconsin. He was 57.
