''The Forester's Daughter'' (german: Die Försterchristl) is a 1952 West German Musical film, musical comedy film directed by Arthur Maria Rabenalt and starring Johanna Matz, Karl Schönböck and Will Quadflieg. It is based on the 1907 operetta ''Die Försterchristl'', which is set in the Austrian Empire during Franz Joseph I of Austria, Franz Josef's reign. The film is part of the operetta film subgenre. It was shot at the Bavaria Studios in Munich and Location shooting, on location around Bad Tölz. The film's sets were designed by Robert Herlth. Arthur Maria Rabenalt
Arthur Maria Rabenalt (25 June 1905 – 26 February 1993) was an Austrian film director, writer, and author. He directed more than 90 films between 1934 and 1978. His 1958 film '' That Won't Keep a Sailor Down'' was entered into the 1st Moscow International Film Festival. Two years later, his 1960 film ''Big Request Concert'' was entered into the 2nd Moscow International Film Festival. His career encompassed both Nazi cinema and West German productions. He also wrote several books on the 1930s and 1940s wave of German cinema. Career In his early teens, Rabenalt began his stage career directing operas at theatres in Darmstadt, Berlin and Gera. Operetta Film
Operetta films (German: Operettenfilm) are a genre of musical films associated with, but not exclusive to, German language cinema. The genre began in the late 1920s, but its roots stretch back into the tradition of nineteenth century Viennese operettas. Although some silent films had based their plots on stage operettas, the genre was largely a result of the switch from silent to sound films. The 1929 film '' Melody of the Heart'', made by the German studio UFA, is credited as being the first "Operetta film". It had been intended as a silent film, but the dramatic arrival of sound forced its production to be switched. Iván Petrovich ( sr, Иван Петровић, Ivan Petrović; 1 January 1894 – 18 October 1962) was a Serbian film actor and singer. He was the first actor from Yugoslavia to have a successful international movie career. Petrovich mainly worked in German cinema, but also collaborated with established directors in some 100 Hungarian, French, Spanish, Czechoslovakian and Hollywood movies. Oskar Sima
Oskar Sima (31 July 1896 – 24 June 1969) was an Austrian actor who is best remembered for appearing in supporting roles in countless comedy films from the 1930s to the 1960s. Born in Hohenau an der March, Lower Austria, Sima attended high school in Vienna. After a brief tour in the army during World War I, he began acting in various theatrical productions in Berlin, Vienna, and other cities in Central Europe. He began his film career in 1921, and appeared in a number of German silent films early on. Sima was frequently cast as the comic villain whose machinations get everyone into trouble, although often his villainous stature was used to more chilling effect. In 1929, Sima married actress Lina Woiwode. The couple remained married until Sima's death. Along with Friedl Czepa, Fred Hennings and Leni Riefenstahl he was identified as being an active supporter of the Nazi Party.
