The Flower Of Hawaii (1953 Film)
''The Flower of Hawaii'' (german: Die Blume von Hawaii) is a 1953 West German musical film directed by Géza von Cziffra and starring Maria Litto, Rudolf Platte and Marina Ried. It uses the music of the operetta '' The Flower of Hawaii'' by Paul Abraham, but the story was rewritten. Unlike the 1933 film '' The Flower of Hawaii'', this film is not based on the life of the last Queen of Hawaii Liliuokalani. It is part of the tradition of operetta films. The film's sets were designed by the art director Albrecht Becker and Herbert Kirchhoff. It was shot at the Wandsbek Studios in Hamburg. Location shooting took place in Cannes and Nice. Géza Von Cziffra
Géza von Cziffra (; 19 December 1900 – 28 April 1989) was a Hungarian and Austrian film director and screenwriter. Life Cziffra was a Banat German in origin, born in 1900 in Arad in the Banat region, at that date in the Kingdom of Hungary, now in Romania. Cziffra made films from the 1930s onwards, at first in Hungary, and from 1936 in Germany as well, where he was initially more active as a screenwriter. In 1945, in Prague, then occupied by the Germans, he made the film ''Leuchtende Schatten'' ("Glowing Shadows"). As adviser for the criminal police, he was assigned SS-Sturmbannführer Eweler, a member of the SD and brother of the actress Ruth Eweler. After some time, Cziffra banned Eweler from the studios for excessive and obstructive criticism. Shortly afterwards, he was arrested and taken to the Prague Gestapo Headquarters in the Pecec Palace, where he was accused of having eaten several times in the Czech restaurant "Neumann" without using ration stamps. Albrecht Becker
Albrecht Becker (14 November 1906 – 22 April 2002) was a German production designer, photographer, and actor who was imprisoned by the Nazi regime for the charge of homosexuality. Personal life Born in Thale, Germany, Becker trained as a teacher. At age eighteen, he began a relationship with the Director of the State Archive in Würzburg, Joseph Friedrich Abert, an older man. The relationship lasted ten years. Through this contact, he met an array of influential and artistic people. He was an actor and production designer. Later in life, he devoted himself completely to photography. While living in Freiburg and Vienna, he showed his first exhibitions and earned his first commissions. William Frederick Stelling (born 30 June 1969), better known as Billy Stelling, is a former South African-born Dutch cricketer who played fifteen ODIs. An allrounder, he bowls right arm fast medium and is a right-handed batsman who was born at Johannesburg.
