The Esoteric
The Esoteric is an American hardcore/rock band founded in 1996 from Lawrence, Kansas. They are currently signed to Prosthetic Records. Following several self-produced EPs, the band's debut full-length, '' With the Sureness of Sleepwalking'', came out on Prosthetic Records in 2005. Their follow-up, ''Subverter'', released on Prosthetic in 2006 and received good reception from online blogs and music magazines. The Kansas outfit is quick to point out and pay homage to their influences and support their fellow local bands. The band has toured with the likes Himsa, Mastodon, Dog Fashion Disco, Mindless Self-Indulgence, Scarlet, Calico System, and Fight Paris. On January 1, 2007, the band announced the departures of guitarist Cory White and drummer Marshall Kilpatric. White left the band based on personal reasons while Kilpatric relocated to Los Angeles to join Black Light Burns. Lawrence is the county seat of Douglas County, Kansas, Douglas County, Kansas, United States, and the sixth-largest city in the state. Mastodon is an American heavy metal band from Atlanta, Georgia. Formed in 2000, the band's lineup of Troy Sanders (bass/vocals), Brent Hinds (lead guitar/vocals), Bill Kelliher (rhythm guitar/backing vocals) and Brann Dailor (drums/vocals) has remained the same since 2001. Mastodon has released eight studio albums, as well as a number of other releases. The band's 2002 debut album, '' Remission'', garnered significant critical acclaim for its unique sound. Calico System was an American metalcore band from St. Louis, Missouri. The group formed in 1998 and released several albums under the Eulogy Recordings label after successful LP releases and abundant touring. Scarlet (American Band)
Scarlet is a metalcore band from Richmond, Virginia currently on a long term hiatus. History Scarlet formed in Yorktown, Virginia in the late 1990s. In 2000, the band released its first EP ''Breaking the Dead Stare''. Shortly afterward, Scarlet disbanded with Jon Spencer leaving to perform vocals for Virginia Beach-based metalcore band, Spitfire. Scarlet reformed in 2003 with Spencer returning on vocals. Scarlet released ''Something to Lust About'' on Ferret Music. The EP served as a teaser for Scarlet's first full-length album, ''Cult Classic''. Mindless Self Indulgence (often referred to as MSI) is an American electropunk band formed in New York City in 1997. Their music has a mixed style which includes punk rock, alternative rock, electronica, techno, industrial, hip hop, and breakbeat hardcore. History Between 1987 and 1996, Jimmy Urine recorded about 35 songs which varied in musical style, usually settling in an industrial/electronic punk style. These songs were recorded with himself and his brother, Markus Euringer in New York City using rudimentary equipment. Urine and his brother released an album titled ''Mindless Self-Indulgence'', featuring Steve, Righ?, on 'Bed of Roses', which featured songs performed in an industrial style akin to Nine Inch Nails. Himsa was an American heavy metal band from Seattle, Washington. Formed in 1998, their band name is from the Sanskrit word himsa, which means "harm" or "violence". The group released four full-length studio albums, two EPs and one DVD before their disbandment in 2008. Mathcore
Mathcore is a subgenre of hardcore punk and metalcore influenced by post-hardcore, extreme metal and math rock that developed during the 1990s. Bands in the genre emphasize complex and fluctuant rhythms through the use of irregular time signatures, polymeters, syncopations and tempo changes. Early mathcore lyrics were addressed from a realistic worldview and with a pessimistic, defiant, resentful or sarcastic point of view.
