The Escape (band)
The Escape were an English new wave band from Bristol, formed in 1981 by Alan Griffiths (vocals/guitar) and Emil (drums) from Apartment with bassist Stuart Morgan. They released one single, "NoGo" / "I'll Pretend to Kill You" in 1982 on their own Volatile Records label. In early 1983, they were signed by Phonogram Records and released two further singles. In late 1983, the band toured as the support act for Tears for Fears; this expanded touring line up included guest keyboardist/backing vocalist Nicky Holland along with Pat Tedd on guitar and Peter Evans on drums. However, success eluded them and the band split up in late 1984. Bristol () is a city, ceremonial county and unitary authority in England. Roland Orzabal
Roland Orzabal (born Roland Jaime Orzabal de la Quintana; 22 August 1961) is a British musician, singer-songwriter, record producer, and author. He is best known as a co-founder of Tears for Fears, of which he is the main songwriter and joint vocalist. Orzabal has been the only constant member of the band, having appeared on every Tears for Fears studio album. He has also achieved success as a producer of artists such as Oleta Adams. In 2014, Orzabal published his first novel, a romantic comedy. Early life Orzabal was born in Portsmouth, Hampshire. He was initially raised in nearby Havant. Orzabal's father, George Orzabal de la Quintana, was a Frenchman of Argentinian and Spanish roots and was often so ill that he was rarely seen by his children. ''Avon Calling'' is an album of tracks featuring bands from Bristol, UK, on local record label Heartbeat Records, and was originally released in 1979. All but 2 of the tracks were recorded at Crescent Studios in Bath by David Lord and Glenn Tommey, when the bands were "neatly fitting in on "off days" from on-going sessions by the likes of Peter Gabriel, The Korgis & Kate Bush." At the time of the LP release Rick Joseph of the ''NME'' started his review of the album, "Avon Calling is the collective endeavour of 15 bands that live and languish around Britain's Most Unsung Major Metropolis. Bristol is a city in South West England. As the largest city in the region it is a centre for the arts and sport. The region has a distinct West Country dialect. ''Tomcats Screaming Outside'' is the only solo studio album by British musician Roland Orzabal from the band Tears for Fears, and was released on 2 April 2001. Although Orzabal had made two albums solely with Tears for Fears moniker in the 1990s (following the departure of bandmate Curt Smith), ''Elemental'' and ''Raoul and the Kings of Spain'', this was the first recording to be released under his own name. Background In a 2000 interview, Orzabal commented on his influences for the album: "I started out with an absolute concrete vision of where I wanted to go so I started with a very different rhythm approach, with drum and bass/jungle...and I ended up with something that wasn't the original plan."
