The Dragon Ring
''Desideria e l'Anello del Drago'' (also known as ''Desideria and The Dragon Ring'') is an Italian fantasy mini-series directed by Lamberto Bava and starring Anna Falchi. The story is similar in style and direction as Lamberto Bava's more successful '' Fantaghirò'' series. Plot The Dragon King and Queen, rulers of a powerful kingdom, have two daughters. Desideria, the eldest daughter and Selvaggia, a sorceress they adopted. Although she is constantly playing tricks to get her elder sister in trouble, she is frequently praised as being the smarter and better daughter. As the eldest birth daughter of the Dragon King, Desideria is due to inherit the Dragon Ring, the highest symbol of power in the kingdom, but she can only do so once she has chosen a husband. Unfortunately, the prince that finally catches her attention is Prince Victor, a rebel prince who has fought against her father and is to be sentenced to death for his treachery. Lamberto Bava
Lamberto Bava (born 3 April 1944) is an Italian film director. Born in Rome, Bava began working as an assistant director for his director father Mario Bava. Lamberto co-directed the 1979 television film ''La Venere d'Ille'' with his father and in 1980 directed his first solo feature film ''Macabre''. Bava continued working in the 1980s and collaborated with Dario Argento on films such as '' Demons''. After 1990, Bava's work was predominantly involved with television, such as his '' Fantaghirò'' series. Biography Lamberto Bava was born in Rome, Italy on 3 April 1944. Fantaghirò 2
''Fantaghirò 2'' (also known as ''The Cave of the Golden Rose 2'') is the second television film in the ''Fantaghirò series'', directed by Lamberto Bava and originally aired in 1992 as a two-parter (and so is known in certain releases as ''Fantaghirò 3'' and ''Fantaghirò 4'' due to the previous instalment being a two-parter as well). Most of the principal cast of the previous film returned for this instalment. The story of ''Fantaghirò 2'' tells the continuing adventures of the titular princess (Alessandra Martines), daughter of a king without a male heir (Mario Adorf), as she and Prince Romualdo (Kim Rossi Stuart) are finally about to get married. ''Fantaghirò'' (also known as ''The Cave of the Golden Rose'') is a fantasy television film produced by Reteitalia, directed by Lamberto Bava and starring Alessandra Martines. It originally aired in 1991 as a two-parter, and hence has been known in certain video releases and airings as double-set of ''Fantaghirò 1'' and ''Fantaghirò 2'' (not to be confused with the sequel, ''Fantaghirò 2''). It is the first installment in the ''Fantaghirò'' series and is loosely based on the Italian folktale Fanta-Ghirò the Beautiful. Anna Falchi (; born Anna Kristiina Palomäki; 22 April 1972) is a Finnish-Italian model and film actress. Career Anna Kristiina Palomäki was born in Tampere, Finland, the daughter of an Italian father, Benito (Tito) Falchi, and Finnish mother Kaarina. She has a brother, Saro, and a half-brother in Sweden, Peter (by her father). In 1978, at the age of six, she moved to Italy with her family, where she started her career as a model. Falchi first appeared on television in a commercial for an Italian bank in 1992. The ad starred Paolo Villaggio, and was directed by the celebrated Federico Fellini. This helped her launch a film career, starting with ''Nel continente nero'' (''in the black Continent'') in 1993.
