Fantaghirò (film)
''Fantaghirò'' (also known as ''The Cave of the Golden Rose'') is a fantasy television film produced by Reteitalia, directed by Lamberto Bava and starring Alessandra Martines. It originally aired in 1991 as a two-parter, and hence has been known in certain video releases and airings as double-set of ''Fantaghirò 1'' and ''Fantaghirò 2'' (not to be confused with the sequel, ''Fantaghirò 2''). It is the first installment in the ''Fantaghirò'' series and is loosely based on the Italian folktale Fanta-Ghirò the Beautiful. Plot For many centuries two kingdoms have been at war with each other, though neither side remembers what the war is for. In one of the kingdoms, the warrior king has three daughters: Catherine, Caroline, and Fantaghirò. Although Catherine and Caroline are well-behaved princesses, Fantaghirò is outspoken, and rebellious, and longs to fight in battle. Lamberto Bava
Lamberto Bava (born 3 April 1944) is an Italian film director. Born in Rome, Bava began working as an assistant director for his director father Mario Bava. Lamberto co-directed the 1979 television film ''La Venere d'Ille'' with his father and in 1980 directed his first solo feature film ''Macabre''. Bava continued working in the 1980s and collaborated with Dario Argento on films such as '' Demons''. After 1990, Bava's work was predominantly involved with television, such as his '' Fantaghirò'' series. Biography Lamberto Bava was born in Rome, Italy on 3 April 1944. Bouzov Castle
Bouzov Castle ( cs, Hrad Bouzov) is an early 14th-century fortress which was first mentioned in 1317. It was built on a hill between the village of Hvozdek and the town of Bouzov, west of Litovel and northwest of Olomouc, in Moravia, Czech Republic. The castle has been used in a number of film productions lately, including '' Arabela'', '' Fantaghirò'', and '' Before the Fall''. History Owners Bouzov was established at the turn of the 14th century with the purpose to watch over the trade route from Olomouc to Loštice. The minor aristocratic Bůz of Bludovec family were its first recorded owners from 1317 to 1339. The castle also takes its name from the family. Ownership of the castles was then changed, and the Lords of Kunštát were among the most important medieval owners. Brigitte Nielsen (; born Gitte Nielsen; 15 July 1963) is a Danish actress, model, and singer. She began her career modelling for Greg Gorman and Helmut Newton. Mario Bava (31 July 1914 – 27 April 1980) was an Italian filmmaker who worked variously as a director, cinematographer, special effects artist and screenwriter, frequently referred to as the "Master of Italian Horror" and the "Master of the Macabre". His low-budget genre films, known for their distinctive visual flair and stylish technical ingenuity, feature recurring themes and imagery concerning the conflict between illusion and reality, as well as the destructive capacity of human nature.
