The Dowling Poole
The Dowling Poole is an English power pop band formed in 2013 by the singers/songwriters/multi-instrumentalists Willie Dowling and Jon Poole. Dowling originally came to public attention as frontman for London hard rock/glam metal band The Grip, going on to become keyboard player for The Wildhearts and subsequently fronting Honeycrack, Jackdaw4 and The Sugar Plum Fairies. Poole had also been a Wildhearts member (playing bass guitar for the band at various points during the 1990s) but was also well known as a former member of Cardiacs. On the studio recordings, Dowling plays keyboards while Poole is responsible for bass and drums; both men also contribute vocals and share the songwriting equally. Their debut album, ''Bleak Strategies'', was released on 1 April 2014 through the Pledgemusic platform. The album saw commercial release on 11 August 2014 through 369 Music. Jon Poole
Jonathan Charles Poole (born 16 October 1969), also known by his stage name Random Jon Poole, is an English multi-instrumentalist singer and songwriter. He is best known for his work as guitarist for Cardiacs and as bass player for the Wildhearts and Lifesigns. Poole is the frontman and main performer of God Damn Whores, and has also worked with the bands Ablemesh, Dr Brighton and Celebricide. He is currently the live bass player for the Lotus Eaters and has joined the Brighton band La Momo as drummer. He also fronts the Dowling Poole along with Willie Dowling, and has released three albums and a number of EPs with this project. Cardiacs
Cardiacs are an English rock band formed in Kingston upon Thames by Tim Smith (lead guitar and vocals) and his brother Jim (bass, backing vocals) in 1977 under the name Cardiac Arrest. The band's sound fused circus, baroque pop and medieval music with progressive rock and post-punk, adding other elements like nursery rhymes and sea shanties. Tim Smith was the primary lyricist, noted for his complex and innovative compositional style. He and his brother were the only constant members in the band's regularly changing lineup. The band created their own indie label, the Alphabet Business Concern, in 1984 and found mainstream exposure with the single " Is This the Life?" from their debut album ''A Little Man and a House and the Whole World Window'' (1988). The Wildhearts
The Wildhearts are an English rock band, formed in 1989 in Newcastle upon Tyne. The band's sound is a mixture of hard rock and melodic pop music, often described in the music press as combining influences as diverse as the Beatles and 1980s-era Metallica. The Wildhearts achieved several top 20 singles and two top 10 albums in Britain, though they also faced difficulties with record companies and many internal problems often relating to drugs and depression. Much of the band's early career was affected by bitter feuds with their record company, East West. Throughout the band's history, members have regularly been replaced, with the only constant member being the band's founder, singer and guitarist Ginger. Several band members have appeared in the line-up more than once. The band has also been split up or placed on hiatus by Ginger multiple times. Honeycrack
Honeycrack were a British rock band, formed and fronted by former Wildhearts members Willie Dowling and Chris "CJ" Jagdhar. History CJ had first gained attention with the band Tattooed Love Boys and then became a founding member of The Wildhearts (playing second guitar and singing harmony vocals). Willie Dowling, a Multi-instrumentalist, was once a member of The Grip and then joined The Wildhearts as a keyboard player for live performances and recording sessions (contributing to their debut album ''Earth Vs. The Wildhearts''). Dowling turned down the offer to join the band permanently in order to focus on his own endeavors. In the summer of 1994, during the recording of the second Wildhearts album, CJ was sacked from the band following clashes with Wildhearts frontman Ginger. Pledgemusic
PledgeMusic was an online direct-to-fan music platform, launched in August 2009. It was started to facilitate musicians looking to pre-sell, market, and distribute projects; such as recordings and concerts. It bore similarities to other artist payment platforms as ArtistShare, Kickstarter, Indiegogo, Patreon, RocketHub and Sellaband. The company announced it was facing bankruptcy in May 2019, after a year of artists reporting slow payment problems. The company was granted permission to wind up on August 19, 2019. ''Classic Rock'' is a British magazine and website dedicated to rock music, owned and published by Future. It was launched in October 1998 and is based in London.
