A total of six series and eight special episodes of the show were broadcast on Channel 5 from 8 October 2013 to 26 December 2019, the show moved to 5Select in 2019 with the first episode of the seventh series airing on 14 October 2019. The first season of the show was originally narrated by Russel Tovey. From the second season on Alan Davies, the English stand-up comedian, hosted the show. Alan Roger Davies (; born 6 March 1966) is an English stand-up comedian, writer, actor and TV presenter. He is best known for his portrayal of the title role in the BBC mystery drama series ''Jonathan Creek'' (1997–2016) and as the only permanent panellist on the BBC panel show '' QI'' since its premiere in 2003, outlasting its original host Stephen Fry. 5Select (stylised as 5SELECT) is a British free-to-air television channel which features documentaries, arts, dramas, comedies and Channel 5 original content. It is owned by Paramount Global and operated by Paramount Networks UK & Australia. History Channel 5 were set to launch a new channel called ''5Prime''. It was going to be a catch-up channel, launching in January 2018, but it was never officially launched. A month later, 5Prime was rebranded as 5Select and it launched at 9:00am on 13 February 2018, with the first programme, ''Access'', being shown. 1080i (also known as Full HD or BT.709) is a combination of frame resolution and scan type. 1080i is used in high-definition television (HDTV) and high-definition video. The number "1080" refers to the number of horizontal lines on the screen. Stereophonic sound, or more commonly stereo, is a method of sound reproduction that recreates a multi-directional, 3-dimensional audible perspective. This is usually achieved by using two independent audio channels through a configuration of two loudspeakers (or stereo headphones) in such a way as to create the impression of sound heard from various directions, as in natural hearing.
