''The Dawn of Grace'' is a Christmas album by the alternative rock and indie pop band Sixpence None the Richer. The record was released on October 14, 2008. Background ''The Dawn of Grace'' was produced by Steve Hindalong and consists of eight traditional Christmas songs, including "Angels We Have Heard on High" and "Silent Night", featuring guest vocalist Dan Haseltine of Jars of Clay, and two original Sixpence Christmas tunes called "The Last Christmas" and "Christmas for Two". The subtitle on the cover reads: ''A Collection of Original and Traditional Christmas Songs''. Although no singles were released from the album, two animated music videos were released for "Angels We Have Heard on High" and "Silent Night". The album reached No. 47 on the U.S. Christian Album Chart. After spending four years apart, the band reunited for this album. Sixpence None the Richer (also known as Sixpence) is an American Christian alternative rock band that formed in New Braunfels, Texas, and eventually settled in Nashville, Tennessee. They are best known for their songs " Kiss Me" and " Breathe Your Name" and their covers of "Don't Dream It's Over" and " There She Goes". The name of the band is inspired by a passage from the book ''Mere Christianity'' by C. S. Lewis. Matt Slocum (born 27 December 1972) is a guitarist, cellist, pianist and composer, known for his work as the principal songwriter and lead guitarist of Sixpence None the Richer. Biography Born in Rhode Island to Joseph and Hildegard Slocum, his family moved to New Braunfels, Texas, when he was eight months old, and opened a book store. In 1991, while a senior at New Braunfels High School,1990-1991 New Braunfels High School Yearbook Slocum played guitar with Chris Taylor on a garage-band tape release called ''A Place to Hide Away (Part 1)''. He was a member of Love Coma, a Christian rock band, and in the early 1990s he met vocalist Leigh Bingham Nash while attending the same church in New Braunfels, Texas. Alfred Shaddick Burt (April 22, 1920 – February 7, 1954) was an American jazz musician who is best known for composing the music for fifteen Christmas carols between 1942 and 1954. Only one of the carols was performed in public outside his immediate family circle during his lifetime. Early life Burt was born in Marquette, Michigan. His family moved to Pontiac, Michigan when he was two after his father, Bates G. Burt (1878–1948), became rector of All Saints Pontiac, an Episcopal church in Pontiac. At the age of 10, having shown an early interest in music, Alfred received his first musical instrument, a cornet, as a present from his parents. Leigh Anne Bingham Nash ( ; born June 27, 1976) is an American singer and songwriter who was the lead vocalist for the Christian alternative rock band Sixpence None the Richer and was also a member of Fauxliage. Her debut solo album, '' Blue on Blue'', was released on August 15, 2006, by the One Son/Nettwerk record labels. Nash has released two other solo albums in 2011 and 2015.
