''The Dance of Time'' or more literally ''The Dance of the Clock Hands'' (Italian: ''La danza delle lancette'') is a 1936 Italian sports comedy film directed by Mario Baffico and starring Marcello Spada, Ugo Ceseri and Luigi Almirante. It was one of only three films which the leading lady Barbara Monis appeared in.Lancia & Poppi p.248 It was shot at the Cines Studios in Rome. The film's sets were designed by the art director Giorgio Pinzauti. Synopsis A young nobleman takes up motor racing despite the disapproval of his father. Tripoli Grand Prix
The Tripoli Grand Prix (Italian: ''Gran Premio di Tripoli'') was a motor racing event first held in 1925 on a racing circuit outside Tripoli, the capital of what was then Italian Tripolitania, now Libya. It lasted until 1940. Background Motor racing was an extremely popular sport in Italy and the colony was seeking methods to raise capital and promote tourism—tourists who, it was hoped, would then decide to settle in Tripolitania. But despite the support of the colony's extremely enthusiastic governor, General Emilio de Bono, and some initial success, the events failed financially. Only personal intervention by General de Bono kept the 1929 event from being cancelled, and 1930 was marred by a spartan field, little public interest, and the death of Gastone Brilli-Peri in an accident. Umberto Sacripante (2 October 1904 – 14 January 1975) was an Italian film and stage actor. Life and career Born Umberto Sacripanti in Rome, Sacripante debuted on stage in 1921, and in 1926 he became first actor in the theatrical company Teatro degli Indipendenti directed by Anton Giulio Bragaglia. He made his film debut in 1930, and in a short time he became one of the most active character actors of his time. Thanks to his good knowledge of German language, he was also often cast in German and Austrian productions. He also worked as general organizer for the production company Cines, and also was secretary of the National Syndicate of Film Actors. Personal life Sacripante was married to Assunta Lelli. After making his debut in the silent era in 1913 he appeared in more than 80 films and television series up to 1965.
