The Cut (2014 Drama Film)
''The Cut'' is a 2014 internationally co-produced drama film directed by Fatih Akın. It was selected to compete for the Golden Lion at the 71st Venice International Film Festival. The film is about the life and experiences of a young Armenian by the name of Nazareth Manoogian against the backdrop of the Armenian genocide and its repercussions in different parts of the world. Plot The film starts by showing how life, as a blacksmith, was in the city of Mardin, where Nazareth and his family used to live. Although Nazareth had his suspicions about possible effects of the World War I, and he was considering the possibility of non-Muslim minorities of the Ottoman Empire being conscripted to fight in the army, his family and friends were trying to be optimistic, although they heard stories of disappearing men from different villages. Mardik Martin (September 16, 1934 – September 11, 2019) was an American screenwriter of such classics as ''Mean Streets'', '' New York, New York'' and ''Raging Bull'' directed by his lifelong friend Martin Scorsese and starring Robert De Niro. Fatih Akin (Turkish: Fatih Akın, born 25 August 1973) is a German film director, screenwriter and producer of Turkish descent. He has won numerous awards for his films, including the Golden Bear at the Berlin Film Festival for his film '' Head-On'' (2004), Best Screenplay at the Cannes Film Festival for his film ''The Edge of Heaven'' (2007), and the Golden Globe Award for Best Foreign Language Film for his film '' In the Fade'' (2017). Makram Jamil Khoury (Arabic:, مكرم يعقوب خوري}, he, מכרם חורי) is an Arab-Israeli actor, born 30 May 1945 in Jerusalem.
