''The Contender Asia'' (known as The Contender: Kickboxer in the United Kingdom, and The Contender: Muay Thai in the United States) was a reality-based television series that follows 16 Muay Thai middleweight fighters from 12 countries as they compete in a series of outdoor challenges and sanctioned matches. The series is a deviation from the original Contender series, which involved boxing. The winner received US$150,000 and bragging rights as "The Contender Champion". The program was hosted by Vice President of World Muay Thai Council and former World Champion Stephen Fox (who also serves as the show's main trainer) and Jaymee Ong. The second season has been announced on its official website. Production will begin in late September 2009 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, with 16 fighters (14 currently revealed) vying for the title and a bigger cash prize, which the producers say as "the highest prize money ever to be paid out in the sport of Muay Thai." Mark Burnett

John Wayne Parr
John Wayne "The Gunslinger" Parr (born 25 May 1976), also known as JWP, is a retired Australian Muay Thai fighter, kickboxer and boxer, fighting out of Boonchu Gym in Gold Coast, Queensland. He is a former 10-time World Champion and was the runner up on ''The Contender Asia''. Biography Early life Wayne Parr began training in taekwondo at the age of 11. Wayne competed in the Queensland titles at QE2 Stadium, where he won a silver medal after winning 2 fights and losing the final in 1988. In 1990 Parr started kickboxing, training for a few months before having to move to Sydney. In 1991 Parr moved to Richmond, New South Wales. Wayne found a new kickboxing gym and had his first fight aged 14, losing on a split decision. In 1992 the Parr family moved again to Mornington in Victoria. Dzhabar Askerov ( lez, Аскеров Жаббар Мегьамедан хва) (russian: Джабар Аскеров; born January 24, 1986) is a Russian Welterweight kickboxer fighting out of Melbourne, Australia and representing Russia. He is the World Muay Thai Council's Muay Thai Welterweight European Champion and K-1 MAX Scandinavia 2008 Tournament Finalist. Soren Monkongtong
Soren Monkongtong (born 31 May 1980) is an Australian middleweight kickboxer. In 2007 he took part of the reality based television series ''The Contender Asia''. Biography and career Soren Monkongtong started training in muay thai at the age of 13 and had his first fight at 15. He is now one of the most active professional Muay Thai fighters in the world. At the moment Soren is training at Eminent Air Gym in Bangkok. Some of the fighters he has fought are John Wayne Parr, Jomhod, Bruce Macfie, Naruepol Fairtex and Warren Elson. Soren has fought for the WMPF super-welterweight world title, however lost to the Thai fighter on the judges' scorecard. he is now retired and trains people at nuggets gym in Australia Brisbane.
