The Class (2007 Film)
''The Class'' ( et, Klass) is a 2007 Estonian drama film directed by Ilmar Raag. Themed on school violence, it was released on March 16, 2007. A 7 episode series was later produced, telling what happens after the initial movie. The series was called ''Class: Life After'' ( et, Klass: Elu pärast, which can also be translated as "Class: For Life"). Plot Joosep Raak is an Estonian teenager who is being bullied by his entire high school class, the ring leader of them all is Anders, his accomplice Paul, and three other friends: Toomas, Tiit and Olav. Anders encourages the class to continually beat up Joosep, and harass him in other ways as well, such as fully undressing him and then pushing him in the girls' changing room. Ilmar Raag
Ilmar Raag (born 21 May 1968 in Kuressaare) is an Estonian media executive, actor, screenwriter and film director, best known for his socio-critical film '' The Class''. He has served as CEO of Estonian Television from 2002 to 2005. He is a well known columnist in many prestigious Estonian newspapers (''Postimees'', ''Eesti Päevaleht''). He has written many scripts and directed critically acclaimed films, notably ''August 1991'' and ''The Class''. Life Raag was born in Kuressaare on 21 May 1968. Laine Mägi
Laine Mägi (born Laine Michelson-Adamson; 3 February 1959) is an Estonian stage, film and television actress, dancer and choreographer and dance pedagogue who began her career as a teenager. She is the founder of the Laine Mägi School of Dance, based in Pärnu. Early life Laine Michelson-Adamson was born in Kehra to Peeter and Elli-Anniki Michelson-Adamson (''née'' Pennie). She has one brother who is two years younger. Her first cousin is actress Terje Pennie-Kolberg. Kauhajoki School Shooting
The Kauhajoki school shooting occurred on 23 September 2008 at the Seinäjoki University of Applied Sciences (SeAMK) in Kauhajoki, Finland. The gunman, 22-year-old student Matti Juhani Saari, shot and killed ten people with a Walther P22 Target semi-automatic pistol, before shooting himself in the head. He died a few hours later at Tampere University Hospital. One woman was injured but was in a stable condition. The shooting took place at the Kauhajoki School of Hospitality, owned by the Seinäjoki Municipal Federation of Education. The facilities and campus were shared between SeAMK and the Seinäjoki Vocational Education Centre – Sedu. Saari was a second-year student in a Hospitality Management undergraduate degree programme. Rotten Tomatoes is an American review-aggregation website for film and television. The company was launched in August 1998 by three undergraduate students at the University of California, Berkeley: Senh Duong, Patrick Y. Lee, and Stephen Wang. Although the name "Rotten Tomatoes" connects to the practice of audiences throwing rotten tomatoes in disapproval of a poor stage performance, the original inspiration comes from a scene featuring tomatoes in the Canadian film ''Léolo'' (1992). Kaie Mihkelson (born 12 October 1948) is an Estonian film and stage actress. Biography Early life and education Mihkelson was born in Pärnu, Estonia on 12 October 1948. She graduated from the Tallinn Polytechnical Institute of Economics in 1969 and the Tallinn State Conservatory (now, the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre) in 1974. Career From 1974 until 1977, Mihkelson was engaged at the Endla Theatre in Pärnu before leaving for the Youth Theater in Tallinn from 1977 until 1988.
