The Brothers (islands), Hong Kong
The Brothers or Mo To Chau (, or ) consist of two islands in Hong Kong, Siu Mo To (or East Brother, ) and Tai Mo To (or West Brother, ). The two islands have been leveled to avoid affecting aviation of the nearby Hong Kong International Airport. Administratively, they are under the jurisdiction of Tuen Mun District. Geography The group of islands lie in the north of Lantau Island, midway between Chek Lap Kok, where Hong Kong International Airport is located, and Tuen Mun. West Brother and East Brother are 550 m by 430 m and 800 m by 180 m respectively. Before being leveled, they had maximum elevations of 68 m and 63 m. "The Brothers" is a short story by John Cheever which first appeared in The Yale Review in June 1937. The work was included in the short fiction collection '' The Way Some People Live'' (1943), published by Random House. Plot Two brothers, Kenneth and Tom (their surname is never given), forge an intimate bond after the divorce of their parents. As boys, they witnessed the disintegration of the marriage, which they blamed largely on their mother. At the time of the separation, Kenneth was 20 years old, Tom age 17. The story opens four years later, during which the young men have lived together, becoming "deeply attached to one another." Despite their continual proximity, they display a tactfulness towards one another's casual affairs with women. Since the divorce, the brothers routinely travel by car and ferry from Boston on Saturdays to visit the middle-aged Amy on the rural North Shore. '' The Brothers'' is a studio compilation album by American saxophonists Stan Getz and Zoot Sims released in 1956 via Prestige label. Background The four sides recorded on April 8, 1949, were released on the New Jazz and Prestige labels in 1949 and 1950 (New Jazz 802 and 818, and Prestige 724). The label listed the artist as the Stan Getz Tenor Sax Stars. Prestige compiled the songs into an album for the first time in 1956, at that time adding four additional songs by Zoot Sims and Al Cohn. a record that was later re-released many times. In its first form as an album, the eight-song record was labeled as PRLP-7022.
