''The Blitz'' is an American television sports program which consists of scores and highlights of NFL games. It debuted on ESPNEWS on the first day of the 2005 NFL season, September 11, 2005. It airs mainly during the NFL season on Sundays, from 1:00pm ET to 10:00pm ET. This program is currently on hiatus. Format This program used two different formats, as shown below: During NFL season When ''The Blitz'' debuted in 2005, it originally consisted of scores and highlights of NFL games around the country, along with analysis from Qadry Ismail, Mike Ditka, and Sean Salisbury. ''The Blitz'' also had some non-football highlights (such as college basketball, the NBA, and the like) mixed in. The program went off the air the week after the Super Bowl XL in 2006, and returned on September 10 of that same year. ESPNEWS
ESPNews (pronounced "ESPN News", stylized ESPNEWS) is an American multinational digital cable and satellite television network owned by ESPN Inc., a joint venture between the Disney Media Networks division of The Walt Disney Company (which owns a controlling 80% stake) and Hearst Communications (which owns the remaining 20%). Known as "ESPN3" in its planning stages and proposed as early as 1993, the channel launched on November 1, 1996, and originally featured a rolling news format with 24-hour coverage of sports news and highlights. Since 2010, the network has largely shifted away from this format, and now primarily carries television simulcasts of ESPN Radio shows, encores of ESPN's weekday lineup of studio programs, and overflow event programming in the event of conflicts with the other ESPN networks. Linda Cohn
Linda Cohn (born ) is an American sportscaster. She anchors ESPN's ''SportsCenter''. Early life and education Cohn grew up in a Jewish family on Long Island, New York. As a child, she would watch sports on TV with her father, who is a huge sports fan. When she was 15, her mother found a hockey league where she could play with boys, although the boys were eight or nine years old. As a teenager, Cohn demonstrated talent at ice hockey as a goaltender, making her high school's boys team. Although she didn't make her high school hockey team as a junior, she ended up making the team as a senior. After graduating from Newfield High School in Selden, Cohn attended SUNY Oswego, where she was the goalie for the women's ice hockey team. She graduated with a bachelor's degree in arts and communications in 1981. Cohn was inducted to the Oswego State Athletics Hall of Fame in 2006. Sage Marie Steele (born November 28, 1972) is an American television anchor who is the co-host of the 12pm (ET) SportsCenter on ESPN. She also hosts SportsCenter on the Road from various sporting events such as the Super Bowl and The Masters. Steele formerly hosted ''NBA Countdown'' on ESPN and ABC for four seasons, ending in 2017. Bill Pidto
Bill Pidto (born April 20, 1965) is a former radio personality on Mad Dog Radio on the show ''The B-Team'' and is currently an anchor for MSG Network's coverage of New York Rangers road games and select New York Knicks games. He was formerly a journalist for ESPN from 1993 to 2008. He was often seen as one of the anchors for ESPNews. Darius Behzad "Dari" Nowkhah (born June 23, 1976) is the lead anchor at SEC Network, an American sports television network. On August 21, 2014, The SEC Network began airing, and Nowkhah was chosen to be the head anchor. Nowkhah hosts extensive college football and college basketball programming for the collegiate network. Nowkhah also provides play-by-play for the network's college basketball and college baseball coverage. Nowkhah's move to ESPNU's Charlotte, NC headquarters came after seven years in Bristol, CT where he hosted a variety of shows for ESPN. James Michael Hill (born August 19, 1970, in The Bronx, New York) is an American television personality and talk show host currently with the Black News Channel and FOX Sports. Career Hill, who spent his childhood in both the Bronx and Bessemer, Alabama, enlisted as a reservist in the U.S. Air Force after graduation from high school. He began his career as a sports director at WDVM-TV, WHAG-TV in Hagerstown, Maryland, in early 1995. He got his first anchoring job later that year with KSEE-TV in Fresno, California. From 1997 to 2000, Hill spent time with WKRN-TV in Nashville, Tennessee, covering high school football and earning two Emmy Awards. Robert Flores
Robert Flores (born July 7, 1970) is a sports journalist, who works for MLB Network and NHL Network as a studio host for each. He fills in for Hot Stove on MLB Network. 2005 NFL Season
The 2005 NFL season was the 86th regular season of the National Football League. Regular season play was held from September 8, 2005 to January 1, 2006. Super Bowl XL was an American football game between the National Football Conference (NFC) champion Seattle Seahawks and the American Football Conference (AFC) champion Pittsburgh Steelers to decide the National Football League (NFL) champion for the 2005 season. Richard Sean Salisbury (born March 9, 1963) is an American football analyst, former National Football League (NFL) and Canadian Football League (CFL) quarterback, and actor. He is currently the host of '' The Sean Salisbury Show'' on KBME, Sportstalk 790, an iHeartRadio station in Houston, Texas. Early life Salisbury was born in Long Beach, California. He attended Orange Glen High School in Escondido, California.
