''The Awakening'' is the fourth extended play (EP) by South Korean girl group GFriend. The EP was released digitally and physically by Source Music on March 6, 2017 and distributed by LOEN Entertainment. The album consists of six songs, including the single "Fingertip". The EP peaked atop the Gaon Album Chart and at number 5 on US World Albums. The EP has sold over 70,000 physical copies as of April 2017. Commercial performance ''The Awakening'' debuted and peaked atop the Gaon Album Chart, on the chart issue dated March 5–11, 2017. The EP placed at number 5 on the chart for the month of March 2017, with 64,802 physical copies sold. The EP has sold over 73,492 physical copies as of April 2017. GFriend
GFriend (stylized in all caps; ) was a South Korean girl group formed by Source Music in 2015. The group consisted of six members: Sowon, Yerin, Eunha, Yuju, SinB, and Umji. They debuted with the extended play (EP) '' Season of Glass'' on January 15, 2015 and won several female rookie awards, garnering momentum early on despite being from a small company. GFriend continued their commercial success the next year with their third EP, ''Snowflake'', whose lead single " Rough" won first place on numerous music shows. They released their first studio album, ''LOL'', in 2016 as well. In 2017, GFriend returned with their fourth EP, ''The Awakening'', for which pre-orders exceeded 100,000 copies. Gaon Digital Chart
The Circle Digital Chart, previously known as the Gaon Digital Chart, is the music industry standard record chart ranking the 200 most popular singles in South Korea. It provides rankings on a weekly, monthly, and yearly basis, which is based on an aggregate of streaming, downloads and background music from major South Korean music platforms. It is a part of the Circle Chart, previously known as the Gaon Chart. The Oricon Albums Chart is the Japanese music industry standard albums popularity chart issued daily, weekly, monthly and yearly by Oricon. Oricon originally published LP, CT, Cartridge and CD charts prior to the establishment of the Oricon Albums Chart on October 5, 1987.
