Than Aung ( my, သန်းအောင်, ) is a former Minister for the Ministry of Health of Myanmar (Burma). He previously served as Deputy Minister for Ministry of Health, Member of Naypyidaw Council and director of Myanmar Army Medical Corps. Pe Thet Khin
Pe Thet Khin ( my, ဖေသက်ခင်) was the Ministry of Health (Burma), Minister for Health of Myanmar (Burma), and a practicing paediatrician. He previously served as Professor of Child Health in University of Medicine, Mandalay. Later he served as the rector of the University of Medicine-1, Yangon. In 2011, he became the Minister of Health in Thein Sein, Thein Sein's government. But he resigned on 29 July 2014. The Black Ribbon Movement Myanmar was a movement of medical professions and medical students against the appointment of military officers to positions within Ministry of Health in Myanmar (Burma) in August 2015. Background Successive Burmese governments since the military took over in the 60s have transferred retired military officers into management positions in various civilian departments and army appointees across various sectors have often stifled the progress of experienced civilian staff. Pe Thet Khin, a paediatrician and Minister for Health, was forced into retirement on 29 July 2014, and was replaced by Than Aung, a former military doctor. Than Shwe ( my, သန်းရွှေ, ; born 2 February 1933 or 3 May 1935) is a Burmese strongman politician who was the head of state of Myanmar from 1992 to 2011 as Chairman of the State Peace and Development Council (SPDC). During this period, he held key positions of power including Prime Minister of Myanmar, Commander-in-chief of Myanmar Defense Services and head of the Union Solidarity and Development Association. In March 2011 he officially stepped down as head of state in favour of his hand-picked successor, Thein Sein, and as head of the Armed Forces, being replaced by general Min Aung Hlaing. Myint Htwe ( my, မြင့်ထွေး ; born 24 September 1948) is a Burmese politician, public health physician, and former Minister for Health and Sports of Myanmar . Early life and education Myint Htwe was born on 24 September 1948 in Sittwe, Burma (now Myanmar) to Shwe Tha Htwe and Aye Yi.
