Thalía Mallqui
Thalía Mallqui is a Peruvian freestyle wrestler. She is a two-time medalist at the Pan American Games. Mallqui won one of the bronze medals in the women's 48kg event at the 2014 Pan American Wrestling Championships held in Mexico City, Mexico. Mallqui won the silver medal in the 48 kg event at the 2015 Pan American Games held in Toronto, Canada. Four years later, in 2019, she won one of the bronze medals in the 50 kg event at the Pan American Games held in Lima, Peru. At the 2017 Pan American Wrestling Championships held in Lauro de Freitas, Brazil, she won the silver medal in the 48 kg event. In March 2020, Mallqui competed at the Pan American Olympic Qualification Tournament held in Ottawa, Canada hoping to qualify for the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan. She finished in 3rd place. Amateur wrestling is a variant of wrestling practiced in collegiate, school, or other amateur level competitions. There are two international wrestling styles performed in the Olympic Games: freestyle and Greco-Roman. Both styles are under the supervision of the United World Wrestling (UWW; formerly known as FILA, from the French acronym for International Federation of Associated Wrestling Styles). 2019 Pan American Wrestling Championships
The 2019 Pan American Wrestling Championships was held in Buenos Aires, Argentina, from 19 to 21 April 2019. The top three countries in the 18 weight categories scheduled to be held at the 2019 Pan American Games (also in Lima) will qualify for the Pan American Games. If Peru has not qualified at the end of the 2019 Pan American Championships, the third spot available at the tournament will be awarded to Peru. The USA has become the first time in history that a team has won every gold in a freestyle style at the Pan Am Championships. The 2023 Pan American Games ( es, Juegos Panamericanos de 2023, links=no), officially the XIX Pan American Games and commonly known as Santiago 2023, is a forthcoming international multi-sport event governed by the Panam Sports Organization, scheduled to be held in Santiago, Chile from 20 October to 5 November 2023. These are the first Pan American Games to be held in Chile, and the eighth to be held in South America. The XII South American Games (Spanish: ''XII Juegos Suramericanos Asunción 2022'') was a multi-sport event held between 1–15 October 2022 in Asunción, Paraguay. The 2021 World Wrestling Olympic Qualification Tournament was the last wrestling qualification tournament for the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan. The event was held from 6 to 9 May 2021, in Sofia, Bulgaria. Qualification summary A total of 36 athletes secured a spot in the 2020 Summer Olympics, in Tokyo, Japan.
