''Thaai'' () is a 1974 Indian Tamil-language film, directed by D. Yoganand. The film stars Sivaji Ganesan, Jayalalithaa, Kumari Padmini and S. Varalakshmi. Plot Samidurai, a habitual gambler had fled the country to Singapore with a wrong impression that he had accidentally murdered his pregnant wife Karpagam. With the help of his sister Mangalam and her husband, he changes his name to Duraisami and gets an employment. Soon his fortune changes as Duraisami gets lucky to inherit the wealth of his boss. But, Karpagam had survived and is living in Vadipatti with Anandan, her son and Kaveri, a girl who is believed to be Anandan's sister. Anandan grows up into an unruly youngster, gambling with Minor Arunagiri, picking up quarrels with people and walking out of every job he gets due to one reason or the other. Senthamarai was an Indian actor who acted in Tamil cinema and theatre. Career Senthamarai was born on 13 April 1935 at Kancheepuram. His family included his father Thiruvenkadam, his mother Vedammal, and brother Kamalakannan. Thiruvenkadam died when Senthamarai was seven years old. Senthamarai acted many stage plays along with Sivaji Ganesan and M. G. Gopishantha (26 May 1937 – 10 October 2015), better known by her stage name Manorama, also called Aachi, was an Indian actress, playback singer and comedian who had appeared in more than 1000 films and 5000 stage performances and several television series predomninantely in the Tamil language until 2015. She was a recipient of the Kalaimamani award. In 2002, Government of India awarded Manorama the Padma Shri for her contribution to the arts. Villupuram Chinnaiya Manrayar Ganesamoorthy, better known by his stage name Sivaji Ganesan, (1 October 1928 – 21 July 2001) was an Indian actor and producer. He was active in Tamil cinema during the latter half of the 20th century. Srinivasan Sundarrajan (17 March 1925 – 28 February 2003), popularly known as Major Sundarrajan, was an Indian actor and director who performed predominantly in Tamil language films and plays. He was well known for his sophisticated and urbane way of delivering dialogues, often mixing English and Tamil sentences. Early life Sundarrajan was born on 17 March 1925 in a middle-class Brahmin family in Periyakulam, Madurai. His father Srinivasa Iyengar was a stage actor.
