Texas State Highway 337
State Highway 337 (SH 337) is a state highway in the U.S. state of Texas. The highway begins at a junction with US 180 in Mineral Wells, then heads northwest, ending at a junction with SH 16 near Possum Kingdom Lake. History SH 337 was originally designated on December 3, 1940 as a route from SH 78 north of Bailey to SH 34. That route was transferred to FM 68 on August 1, 1942. It was then not designated, but signed on March 30, 1955 over FM 1077 from Plains to the New Mexico state line to match New Mexico Highway 337. On September 26, 1963, this route was transferred to US 82, along with New Mexico Highway 337. SH 337 was again designated on August 12, 1963 to serve as a route between SH 16 and Mineral Wells. Farm to Market Road 4 (FM 4) is a farm to market road in the U.S. state of Texas, maintained by the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), that runs between the cities of Grandview and Jacksboro. State Highway 254 (SH 254) is a short state highway completely within Palo Pinto County, Texas. The route was originally designated on September 21, 1937 on a route between Graham and Mineral Wells. By 1945, the route had been built, passing through Graford and ending on US 281 north of Mineral Wells. The highway continues as FM 1885 southeast to FM 920 near Weatherford. On January 31, 1969, it was shortened to its current route when SH 16 was extended north through Graham. Mineral Wells, Texas
Mineral Wells is a city in Palo Pinto and Parker Counties in the U.S. state of Texas. The population was 16,788 at the 2010 census (14,644 in Palo Pinto and 2144 in Parker). The city is named for mineral wells in the area, which were highly popular in the early 1900s. History In 1919, Mineral Wells hosted the spring training camp for the Chicago White Sox, the year of the famous "Black Sox" scandal involving "Shoeless" Joe Jackson. Mineral Wells also hosted spring training for the Cincinnati Reds and St. Louis Cardinals in the 1910s and early 1920s. The baseball field was located in the center of town. State Highway 34 (SH 34) is a route that runs from Honey Grove, Texas, Honey Grove to Italy, Texas, Italy just east of the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex. History SH 34 was originally proposed on November 19, 1917, starting in Ft. Worth travelling southeast to Ennis, Texas, Ennis. On October 15, 1923, SH 34 was extended to Kaufman. Texas State Highway 78
State Highway 78 (SH 78) is a state highway that follows surface roads in a predominantly southwest-to-northeast direction in the Dallas area before traveling north-northeast to the Oklahoma State border. Route description The highway's southern terminus is at Interstate 30 in Dallas. From there, it follows Grand Avenue along White Rock Lake and then Garland Road into Garland as it passes Interstate 635. In downtown Garland, Highway 78 follows the central streets of Avenues B and D before joining Lavon Drive and moving northeastward.
