Texas Open (squash)
The Texas Open is an annual women's pro squash tournament that takes place alternately in Dallas and Houston, United States in the first half of the year. It is an official PSA World Tour event. History of the Texas Open The Texas Open with women's pro Tour event as we know it today has an unusual heritage. The “parents” are an odd but surprisingly compatible couple: Houston Squash and Dallas Squash. The squash association in has a distinguished amateur tournament history, including several Texas Opens during the 1990s. In 1996 the organizers added a men's Open draw with prize money. It was not a men's professional tour event, but as the prize grew, the number and quality of pro players accepting an invitation to participate increased. The 1998 version, hosted by the Met Club and the Houston YMCA, was particularly successful. Laura Lengthorn-Massaro
Laura Jane Massaro (née Lengthorn; born 2 November 1983) is a retired professional squash player from England. Career She was born in Great Yarmouth and attended Albany High School, Chorley, which is now called Albany Academy. In July 2007, she married Danny Massaro and became Laura Lengthorn-Massaro. She subsequently dropped 'Lengthorn' from her name and is now known professionally as Laura Massaro. She won her first top-level title at the German Open in 2004 and went on to become British Open champion in 2013 and World Champion in 2014, so become the first Englishwoman to hold both titles at once. She is also a three-time silver medallist for England in Commonwealth Games. Massaro was shortlisted for the Sunday Times Sky Sports Sportswomen of the Year awards. Datuk Nicol Ann David (born August 26, 1983) is a retired female Malaysian professional squash player. Beginning in August 2006, David was the world number one for a record-breaking 108 consecutive months, finally ceding the ranking in September 2015 to Raneem El Weleily. She has won the World Open title a record 8 times in 2005, 2006, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2014, as well as the British Open title in 2005, 2006, 2008, 2012 and 2014. In July 2016, she reached her 151st successive month in the top 10, breaking the record in both men's and women's categories. She surpassed Peter Nicol's previous records of 150 months. Kasey Brown
Kasey Brown (born 1 August 1985) is a former professional squash player from Australia. She reached a career-high world ranking of World No. 5 in December 2011. Career Brown was born in Taree, New South Wales was the Australian junior champion in 2003 and 2004 and was then the senior champion in 2006 and in the same year also won the Australian Open title. Brown was coached by Rodney Martin and was based in Greenwich, Connecticut. During 2006, she won five WISPA events in Australia as well as the Central Open in New Zealand. Rachael Grinham
Rachael Margaret Grinham (born 22 January 1977 in Toowoomba, Queensland) is an Australian professional squash player. She won the World Open in 2007, and the British Open in 2003, 2004, 2007 and 2009. She reached the World No. 1 ranking in August 2004 and held it for 16 consecutive months. Career Early years Rachael has a great pedigree as a squash player. Winner of the World Junior title in 1993 aged 16, she had an opportunity to defend in 1995, but was beaten by Jade Wilson from New Zealand in the final. Camille Serme (born 4 April 1989 in Créteil) is a former professional squash player from France. She reached a career-high world ranking of World No. 2 in February 2017. Career As a junior player, Camille Serme won three European Junior Championship titles in 2006, 2007 and 2008. Madeline Perry
Madeline Perry (born 11 February 1977 in Banbridge, Northern Ireland) is a former professional squash player from Northern Ireland. She was raised in Northern Ireland and lives in Philadelphia. In November 2006 at the World Open in Belfast, she justified her seeding of eighth by reaching the quarter-finals. She then won the Irish Open 2007 title in Dublin. Her career highlights is at the defeat to Nicol David in the quarter-finals of the Forexx Dutch Open where she took the world number one to 9–7 in the fourth set. Dipika Pallikal
Dipika Pallikal Karthik (née Pallikal; born 21 September 1991) is an Indian professional squash player. She is the first Indian to break into the top 10 in the PSA Women's rankings. Dipika Pallikal came to prominence in 2011, when she won three WISPA tour titles. She broke into the top 10 in December 2012. Early life Dipika Pallikal was born in Kottayam into a Malayali Christian family. She is the daughter of Sanjiv and Susan Pallikal. Nour El Sherbini
Nour El Sherbini ( ar, نور الشربيني; born 1 November 1995) is an Egyptian professional squash player. She is a six time World champion and became the youngest woman to win the Women's World Championship (2015). In 2016, she retained her title and in 2019 won her third World Championship equalling the feat of Michelle Martin and rising to equal fourth in the all-time list of world championships won. She is the current world champion after winning the 2021/2022 edition of the tournament. Early life Nour was born and has been raised in Alexandria, Egypt. The Texas Open 2014 is the women's edition of the 2014 Texas Open, which is a tournament of the WSA World Tour event International (prize money: 50 000 $). The event took place in Houston in the United States from the 8th of April to the 13th April. Nour El Sherbini won her first Texas Open trophy, beating Dipika Pallikal in the final.
