Rachael Grinham
Rachael Margaret Grinham (born 22 January 1977 in Toowoomba, Queensland) is an Australian professional squash player. She won the World Open in 2007, and the British Open in 2003, 2004, 2007 and 2009. She reached the World No. 1 ranking in August 2004 and held it for 16 consecutive months. Career Early years Rachael has a great pedigree as a squash player. Winner of the World Junior title in 1993 aged 16, she had an opportunity to defend in 1995, but was beaten by Jade Wilson from New Zealand in the final. Around that time she was also part of the Australian Institute of Sport squad. Since joining the WISPA World Tour during 1994, her array of strokes and strong temperament initially took her steadily towards the top 20, a barrier she finally breached in the middle of 1997. Toowoomba ( , nicknamed 'The Garden City' and 'T-Bar') is a city in the Toowoomba Region of the Darling Downs, Queensland, Australia. It is west of Queensland's capital city Brisbane by road. Commonwealth Games
The Commonwealth Games, often referred to as the Friendly Games or simply the Comm Games, are a quadrennial international multi-sport event among athletes from the Commonwealth of Nations. Robyn Cooper
Robyn Cooper (born 16 January 1972) is an Australian former professional squash player. She reached a career-high world ranking of World No. 12 in 1996. At the 1998 Commonwealth Games, she won a Silver Medal in the women's doubles, partnering Rachael Grinham. Cooper represented Australia at the 2000 Women's World Team Squash Championships in Sheffield, England winning a silver medal and two years later she won the gold medal with Australia at the 2002 Women's World Team Squash Championships in Odense, Denmark. The Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) is a high performance sports training institution in Australia. Jade Wilson
Jade Wilson (1977 – 14 May 1998) was a New Zealand squash player representing the New Zealand women's national squash team, national team mainly in the junior level competitions. Jade Wilson is still remembered as one of the greatest ever junior squash players to have emerged from New Zealand and to have represented the country at junior level along with Stuart Davenport, Susan Devoy and Glen Wilson (squash), Glen Wilson. She won the World Junior Squash Championships, 1995 World Junior Squash Championships individual event in Sydney, which was her highest career performance. With this triumph, she also became the first ever New Zealander to win a Junior Squash Championship singles title. On 14 May 1998, she committed suicide in Perth after becoming an international professional player. The World Squash Championships are squash events for men and women organised by the Professional Squash Association. The men's event was first held in 1976 in London, England and the women's was inaugurated in 1976 in Brisbane, Australia. Overview The British Open had for many years been generally considered to be the sport's effective world championship, and this continued to be the case until the World Open (now called World Championship) was established. The women's World Championship was held once every two years until the early 1990s, when it became an annual event. The men's event has been held every year since 1976, except for a two-year gap in 2000 and 2001 when it was not held due primarily to difficulties in securing sponsorship.
