Tetu, Kenya
Tetu is a sub-county in Nyeri County, Kenya. It is located west of adjacent Nyeri town, the county capital. Tetu Constituency is also the name of the local electoral constituency. As of 2020, Tetu had a total population of 80,453 and a population density 378 of per km2. Tetu is predominantly a rural division without any major central township. Some of the shopping centers with large markets include Muthinga, Gichira, Ithekahuno and Wamagana. Tetu sub-county is served mainly by Nyeri town due to proximity. Most residents conduct business in Nyeri town as they farm and live in Tetu sub-county. Nyeri County
Nyeri County is a county located in the central region of Kenya. Its capital and largest town is Nyeri. It had a population of 759,164 according to the 2019 census and an area of 2361 km2. Mutahi Kahiga was governor . Previous governors include Nderitu Gachagua, who died while receiving treatment in London, Wamathai Samuel Githaiga, and Wahome Gakuru, who died in a road accident at Kabati near Kenol heading towards Thika Super Highway. Nyeri is a town situated in the Central Highlands of Kenya. It is the county headquarters of Nyeri County and was the central administrative headquarters of the country's former Central Province (Kenya), Central Province. The town is situated about 150 km north of Kenya's capital Nairobi, in the country's densely populated and fertile Central Highlands. Tetu Constituency
Tetu Constituency is an electoral constituency in Kenya. It was established in 1988 and is one of the six constituencies in Nyeri County. Tetu Constituency comprises the Tetu Division of Nyeri County and is located entirely within the Nyeri County Council area. Tetu constituency has only three Wards, the least number of wards out of the constituencies in Nyeri county. Dedan Kimathi
Dedan Kimathi Waciuri (born Kimathi wa Waciuri; 31 October 1920 – 18 February 1957) was the leader of the Kenya Land and Freedom Army during the Mau Mau Uprising (1952–1960) against the British colonial rule in Kenya in the 1950s. He was captured by the British in 1956 and executed in 1957. Kenya gained independence in 1963. Kimathi is credited with leading efforts to create formal military structures within the Mau Mau, and convening a war council in 1953. He, along with Baimungi M'marete, Musa Mwariama, Kubu Kubu, General China and Muthoni Kirima, was one of the Field Marshals.
