Terry Martin is chief executive of United Kingdom-based publishers ''The House of Murky Depths'' who published the award-winning (British Fantasy Award) quarterly science fiction and horror fiction, horror anthology ''Murky Depths,'' and other comics and paperback books. Also the imprint Murkee, publishing children's and YA books. Martin (based in Lincolnshire) is also a writer, poet and artist. He has published a short story collection called ''Probably Maybe Perhaps''. British Fantasy Award
The British Fantasy Awards (BFA) are awarded annually by the British Fantasy Society (BFS), first in 1976. Prior to that they were known as The August Derleth Fantasy Awards (see August Derleth Award). First awarded in 1972 (to ''The Knight of Swords'' by Michael Moorcock) only for novels, the number of award categories increased and in 1976 the BFS renamed them collectively to the British Fantasy Awards. Horror Fiction
Horror is a genre of fiction which is intended to frighten, scare, or disgust. Horror is often divided into the sub-genres of psychological horror and supernatural horror, which is in the realm of speculative fiction. Literary historian J. A. Cuddon, in 1984, defined the horror story as "a piece of fiction in prose of variable length... which shocks, or even frightens the reader, or perhaps induces a feeling of repulsion or loathing". Horror intends to create an eerie and frightening atmosphere for the reader. Often the central menace of a work of horror fiction can be interpreted as a metaphor for larger fears of a society. Murky Depths
''Murky Depths'' bylined as "The Quarterly Anthology of Graphically Dark Speculative Fiction" was a British horror and science fiction magazine which began publishing in 2007. The magazine editor-in-chief was Terry Martin and the editor was Anne Stringer. The magazine was published four times a year. It blended illustrated prose short stories with comic strips. Since Issue #3 it featured a gloss laminated card cover, whereas Issue #1 and #2 covers were on the same paper stock as the contents. From Issue #7 the cover artwork had been wraparound. Its size was unusual for a magazine, being American comic book or graphic novel format. Murky Depths received the British Fantasy Awards Best Magazine/Periodical in 2010 and shortlisted for the same award in 2011. Richard Calder (writer)
Richard Calder (born 1956) is a British science fiction writer who lives and works in the East End of London. He previously spent over a decade in Thailand (1990–1997) and the Philippines (1999–2002). Writing career Born in London, Calder began publishing stories in 1989, and first came to wider notice with the postcyberpunk novel ''Dead Girls'' (1992). ''Dead Girls'' was expanded into a trilogy; the other volumes are ''Dead Boys'' and ''Dead Things''. Since 1992, he has produced a further nine novels, and about twenty short stories. A theme running through his work (such as in the 'Dead' trilogy) is agalmatophiliac male lust for young female gynoids, as well as the darker undercurrents of British national culture. His novels and stories have links and plot overlaps between one another, and together form a mythos. He cites as inspirations Angela Carter and Georges Bataille, among others. Sam Stone is the horror and fantasy pen name for British Thriller novellist and screenwriter Samantha Lee Howe. She is best known for her ''USA Today!'' best selling novel ''The Stranger In Our Bed'' published by HarperCollins imprint One More Chapter. UKPSF
The UKPSF (United Kingdom Paintball Sports Federation) is a United Kingdom voluntary body that exists to promote the sport of paintball, liaise with government bodies, local authorities and try to make the game of paintball safe and fun to play. Working closely with government departments the UKPSF has clarified several laws relating to paintball in the UK, one policy that was clarified was the " Anti Social Behaviour Act 2003. The UKPSF has also created guidelines for subjects such as HPA system safety, correct paintball goggle/mask use, correct use of barrel "plugs" "socks" "bungs" or "condoms" and importantly "buying and selling paintball guns in the UK" all of which work inside all known government legislation.
