Members of the Tereshchenko family have achieved prominence in Ukraine and the world as businessmen, entrepreneurs, philanthropists, and landowners, beginning in the 18th century. Valery Yakovlevich Tereshchenko (russian: Валерий Яковлевич Терещенко; born 1952) is a Russian diplomat and is a former Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Kingdom of Cambodia. Career Tereshchenko graduated from the Institute of Asian and African Countries at Moscow State University in 1978, and entered the Soviet diplomatic service in 1980. From 1980 to 1985, 1988–1992 and 1995-1999 he served at the Soviet, and then Russian embassy in Indonesia. On 29 July 2004, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed Ukaz #982 confirming the appointment of Tereshchenko as Ambassador of Russia to Cambodia and held the post until 25 May 2009 when Dmitry Medvedev relieved Tereshchenko as ambassador. Valery Ivanovich Tereshchenko (also V. J. Tereshtenko) (; 13 June 1901 – 28 September 1994) was a Ukrainian−Soviet academic and writer in the fields of management. Sergey Alexandrovych Tereshchenko (russian: Сергей Александрович Терещенко; born 30 March 1951) is a Kazakh politician. He served as Prime Minister of Kazakhstan from 16 December 1991 to 12 October 1994. Life and career He was born in the town of Lesozavodsk, which was in the Primorsky Krai Region of the RSFSR. He moved to Kazakhstan in 1969 where he studied mechanical engineering at the Kazakh National Agrarian University, where he graduated in 1973.
