Teresa (also Theresa, Therese; french: Thérèse) is a feminine given name. It originates in the Iberian Peninsula in late antiquity. Its derivation is uncertain, it may be derived from Greek θερίζω (''therízō'') "to harvest or reap", or from θέρος (''theros'') "summer". It is first recorded in the form ''Therasia'', the name of Therasia of Nola, an aristocrat of the 4th century. Its popularity outside of Iberia increased because of saint Teresa of Ávila, and more recently Thérèse of Lisieux and Mother Teresa. In the United States it was ranked as the 852nd most popular name for girls born in 2008, down from 226th in 1992 (it ranked 65th in 1950, and 102nd in 1900). ''Teresa'' was a monthly women's magazine which was in circulation in the period 1954–1977 in Madrid, Spain. Its subtitle was ''Revista para todas las mujeres'' (Spanish: ''Magazine For All Women''). The title of the magazine was a reference to Saint Teresa of Avila. It was one of the official media outlets of Sección Femenina, the women's branch of the Falange political party. History and profile ''Teresa'' was first published in January 1954. The magazine adopted a conservative political stance, but it was less conservative than ''Medina'' and '' Y: Revista para la mujer nacional sindicalista'' which had been the official organs of the Sección Femenina in the 1940s. Francis Baker (22 May 1908 – 1982) was a British writer of novels and short stories, mainly on fantastic or supernatural themes. He was also an actor, musician and television scriptwriter. His best-known works are his novels, ''The Birds'' (1936) and ''Miss Hargreaves'' (1940), and his memoir, ''I Follow But Myself'' (1968). Biography Francis Baker was born at Hornsey in London in 1908, the son of a marine insurance salesman (who had been a chorister at Magdalen College, Oxford) and grandson of an organist at Alexandra Palace. Richard Benjamin Haymes (September 13, 1918 – March 28, 1980) was an Argentinian singer and actor. He was one of the most popular male vocalists of the 1940s and early 1950s. He was the older brother of Bob Haymes, an actor, television host, and songwriter. Background Haymes was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina in 1918. His mother, who survived her elder son, was Marguerite Haymes (1894–1987), a well-known Irish-born vocal coach and instructor of English descent.
