Tepehua People
The Tepehuas are an indigenous people of Mexico whose name means in Nahuatl, "people of the mountain", although they refer to themselves without a term or name that encompasses a supposed ethnic group. They also use endoethnonyms that originate in Spanish-influenced Nahuatl: * ''masipijnÃ'': the Tepehua people * ''hamasipinÃ'': who lives on a hill * ''hamasip'': owners of hills They mainly live in the three Mexican states of Hidalgo, Veracruz and Puebla. Pánuco Municipality, Veracruz
Pánuco is one of the 212 municipalities of the Mexican state of Veracruz. It is located in the Huasteca Alta region of Veracruz and shares borders with the states of San Luis Potosà and Tamaulipas. Tepehua is a language cluster of Mexico, spoken across a number of central Mexican states by the Tepehua people. Tepehua is a Mesoamerican language and shows many of the traits which define the Mesoamerican Linguistic Area.
