Tep Vattho
Tep Vattho (1963 – 2016) was an architect, hotel owner, urban planner and director of the urban planning department of the Apsara Authority (Authority for the Protection of the Site and Management of the Region of Angkor) in Siem Reap, Cambodia. Biography Tep Vattho was daughter of judge and minister of justice for Cambodia, His Excellency Tep Hun, Tep Vattho fled the country to France, at the age of 12. Two weeks later, Cambodia imploded with the bloody zeal of its Khmer Rouge rulers. In France, she studied medicine for two years, but switched to architecture, where she met and married French colleague Architect Olivier Piot. In the city of Siem Reap, the second-largest city of Cambodia and just 14 km from the Angkor Wat, the Architect couple created two large hotels and a theater with unique design, Angkor Village Hotel (1994), Angkor Village Resort, and Siem Reaps oldest theater, Angkor Village Apsara Theatre (1997). APSARA
An apsaras or apsara ( sa, अप्सरा ' lso ' pi, अक्चरा, translit=accharā) is a type of female spirit of the clouds and waters in Hinduism and Buddhist culture. They figure prominently in the sculpture, dance, literature and painting of many Indian and Southeast Asian cultures. There are two types of apsaras: ''laukika'' (worldly) and ''daivika'' (divine). Urvasi, Menaka, Rambha, Tilottama and Ghritachi are the most famous among them. They are most often depicted in the court and discretion of Indra. Siem Reap River
The Siem Reap River (Steung Siem Reap; km, ស្ទឹងសៀមរាប) is a river flowing through Siem Reap Province, in north-west Cambodia. The Siem Reap River was originally an offtake channel constructed during the Angkor period, used to divert water from the Puok River southward, probably to the East Baray. Because of the straight nature of a channel, the water flowed much faster than in a natural river. This caused the bed of the channel to erode as much as 10 meters in some areas, and probably caused problems with diverting the water to the East Baray. Kulen Elephant Forest
Kulen Elephant Forest is a conservation organization founded in 2018 by David Piot, The reserve, a 400-hectare elephant retirement park, was opened in December 2019, protecting the captive Asian elephants in Siem Reap Province in Cambodia, as well as protecting up to 1100 acres of protected forest inhabited by the former elephants of Angkor UNESCO World Heritage site.
