Kulen Elephant Forest
Kulen Elephant Forest is a conservation organization founded in 2018 by David Piot, The reserve, a 400-hectare elephant retirement park, was opened in December 2019, protecting the captive Asian elephants in Siem Reap Province in Cambodia, as well as protecting up to 1100 acres of protected forest inhabited by the former elephants of Angkor UNESCO World Heritage site. Location KEFs elephants are located in Bos Thom Community Forest in Ballangk commune, Prasat Bakong district, 40 km north from Siem Reap city on National Road 64. Every tour departs from KEF office in downtown Siem Reap where a shuttle will take visitors on a one-hour drive to the Kulen Elephant Forest. Activities At the KEF reserve, visitors with no more than 12 people in a group, will spend time learning about elephants and follow them by foot through their natural habitat, observing their relationships and behaviors, as they browse in the forest. Cardamom Mountains
The Cardamom Mountains ( km, ជួរភ្នំក្រវាញ, ; th, ทิวเขาบรรทัด, ), or the Krâvanh Mountains, is a mountain range in the south west of Cambodia and Eastern Thailand. Keo Seima Wildlife Sanctuary
Keo Seima Wildlife Sanctuary ( Khmer: ដែនជម្រកសត្វព្រៃកែវសីមា) is a protected area of mixed seasonal tropical forest in eastern Cambodia, located in Mondulkiri and Kratié provinces. The area was first established as Seima Biodiversity Conservation Area in 2002, later becoming Seima Protection Forest in 2009, finally becoming Keo Seima Wildlife Sanctuary in 2016. Asian Elephants
The Asian elephant (''Elephas maximus''), also known as the Asiatic elephant, is the only living species of the genus ''Elephas'' and is distributed throughout the Indian subcontinent and Southeast Asia, from India in the west, Nepal in the north, Sumatra in the south, and to Borneo in the east. Three subspecies are recognised—'' E. m. maximus'' from Sri Lanka, ''E. m. indicus'' from mainland Asia and '' E. m. sumatranus'' from the island of Sumatra. Khmer Rouge
The Khmer Rouge (; ; km, ខ្មែរក្រហម, ; ) is the name that was popularly given to members of the Communist Party of Kampuchea (CPK) and by extension to the regime through which the CPK ruled Cambodia between 1975 and 1979. The name was coined in the 1960s by then Chief of State Norodom Sihanouk to describe his country's heterogeneous, communist-led dissidents, with whom he allied after his 1970 overthrow. The School for Field Studies (SFS) is the United States' largest environmental study abroad program provider for undergraduate college students, offering fully accredited semester- and summer-long academic programs in over 10 countries around the world.
