Tennessee State Route 429
Former State Route 429 (SR 429), also known as Airbase Road, was a south-to-north secondary highway in Blount County, Tennessee, that was 1.85 miles (3.0 km) long. Its southern terminus was at the Tennessee Air National Guard gate and the northern terminus was with US 129 U.S. Route 129 (US 129) is an auxiliary route of US 29, which it intersects in Athens, Georgia. US 129 currently runs for from an intersection with US 19/ US 27 ALT/ US 98 in Chiefland, Florida, to an interchange .../ SR 115 (Airport Highway). The road was decommissioned in 2009 when the Tennessee Air National Guard gate was moved, and Airbase Road was rerouted on new construction to the west, making the old road private. Tennessee Air National Guard
The Tennessee Air National Guard (TN ANG) is the aerial militia of the State of Tennessee, United States of America. It is, along with the Tennessee Army National Guard, an element of the Tennessee National Guard. As state militia units, the units in the Tennessee Air National Guard are not in the normal United States Air Force chain of command. They are under the jurisdiction of the Governor of Tennessee though the office of the Tennessee Adjutant General unless they are federalized by order of the President of the United States. The Tennessee Air National Guard is headquartered at Berry Field Air National Guard Base, Nashville, and its commander is Colonel Jason Glass. Blount County is a county located in the East Tennessee Grand Division of the U.S. state of Tennessee. As of the 2020 census, its population was 135,280. The county seat is Maryville, which is also the county's largest city. Blount County is included in the Knoxville, Tennessee metropolitan statistical area.
