Tennessee State Route 39
State Route 39 (SR 39) is a state highway in McMinn and Monroe counties in the eastern portion of the U.S. state of Tennessee. Route description SR 39 begins as a secondary highway in McMinn County in Riceville at Exit 42 on I-75. It then goes east as a 2-lane country road to the center of town and has a short concurrency with US 11/ SR 2. It then turns northeast, now concurrent with US 11 BUS, to parallel US 11/SR 2 and leave Riceville to go through some countryside before entering Athens. SR 39/US 11 BUS then goes through some suburbs and passes by Starr Regional Medical Center before entering downtown, where US 11 BUS turns northwest to join back up with US 11/SR 2, while SR 39 continues through downtown to an intersection with SR 30/ SR 305/ SR 307, where SR 39 turns south to become concurrent with SR 30 as a 4-lane divided highway. State Route 307 (SR 307) is a north–south state highway in McMinn and Monroe counties of East Tennessee. Route description SR 307 begins in McMinn County in downtown Athens at an intersection with SR 30 and SR 39. It goes northeast along East Madison Avenue before following Eastanallee Avenue to pass through neighborhoods. SR 307 then merges back onto East Madison Avenue to cross a bridge over a creek and pass the headquarters of Mayfield Dairy. The highway continues northeast through neighborhoods before leaving Athens and passes through farmland as Old Athens Madisonville Road. It then crosses into Monroe County as Eastanaula Road and continues northeast through farmland and rural areas before coming to an end at an intersection with SR 68 between Sweetwater and Madisonville, approximately half a mile west of The Lost Sea. Cherohala Skyway
The Cherohala Skyway is a National Scenic Byway and National Forest Scenic Byway that connects Tellico Plains, Tennessee to Robbinsville, North Carolina in the southeastern United States. Its name is a portmanteau of Cherokee and Nantahala, the two national forests through which it passes. Along with multiple vistas and overlooks, the skyway provides easy vehicular access to various protected and recreational areas of the Unicoi Mountains, including the Citico Creek Wilderness, the Bald River Gorge Wilderness, and the remote interior of the Joyce Kilmer Memorial Forest. Planning for the Cherohala Skyway began in 1958 and the road was completed on October 12, 1996 at a final cost of about $100,000,000. Reliance is an unincorporated community in Polk County, Tennessee, Polk County, Tennessee, United States. Reliance is located on the Hiwassee River at the junction of Tennessee State Route 30 and Tennessee State Route 315, east of Benton, Tennessee, Benton. Reliance had a post office until it closed on May 21, 2011; it still has its own ZIP code, 37369. Tennessee State Route 68
State Route 68 (SR 68) is a state highway in the eastern part of the U.S. state of Tennessee. Route description SR 68 begins in southeastern Tennessee, at an intersection with Georgia State Route 5 (SR 5) and SR 60 at the Tennessee–Georgia state line in Copperhill, Tennessee, and McCaysville, Georgia. It then goes north to Ducktown where it junctions with U.S. Route 64 (US 64) and US 74. The route continues north and enters the Cherokee National Forest and goes through a mostly rural area, then in Turtletown it turns east and junctions with SR 123. State Route 315 (SR 315), also known as Tellico-Reliance Road, is a north–south state highway in the Unicoi Mountains region of southeastern East Tennessee. Route description SR 315 begins in Polk County in Reliance at an intersection with SR 30. It immediately heads across the Hiwassee River via a long bridge to pass through the community before leaving Reliance and entering the Unicoi Mountains and the Cherokee National Forest. The highway then winds its way northeast through the mountains to cross into Monroe County. Jalapa was a very small, rural community in Monroe County, Tennessee, United States, approximately five miles (8 km) south (on Mecca Pike) of Tellico Plains. Located in the Unicoi Mountains (a section of the Blue Ridge), this southeast Tennessee settlement is now considered by the Post Office to be part of greater Tellico Plains.
