State Route 240 (SR 240) is a long north-south state highway in Lawrence County, Tennessee. Except for a short stretch in Summertown, the entire route of SR 240 is known simply as Turnpike. Route description SR 240 begins as Turnpike just west of Deerfield at an intersection with US 64/SR 15. It goes northeast along the southern edge of Laurel Hill Wildlife Management Area to pass through farmland and have a short concurrency with SR 241 before passing through Henryville, where it has an intersection with SR 242. Henryville, Tennessee
Henryville is an unincorporated community in Lawrence County, Tennessee, United States. It lies along State Route 240 at its junction with State Route 242, southwest of Summertown, northwest of Lawrenceburg, and just south of the Buffalo River. The community was first settled around 1815, and was named after its first postmaster when a local post office was established in 1847. Lawrence County is a county located in the U.S. state of Tennessee. As of the 2020 census, the population was 44,159. Its county seat and largest city is Lawrenceburg. Lawrence County comprises the Lawrenceburg, TN Micropolitan Statistical Area, which is also included in the Nashville-Davidson-Murfreesboro, TN Combined Statistical Area. History Created by an act of the Tennessee General Assembly on October 21, 1817, Lawrence County was formed from lands previously part of Hickman and Giles counties. It was named in honor of Captain James Lawrence (1781–1813), who while commanding the USS ''Chesapeake'' in an 1813 battle with the Royal Navy frigate HMS ''Shannon'', issued his famous command: "Don't give up the ship! State Route 15 (SR 15) is a west–east route from Memphis to Monteagle. For much of its route it has an unsigned concurrency with U.S. Route 64. SR 15 does travel through the southern part of all 3 Grand Divisions of the state: West Tennessee, Middle Tennessee, and East Tennessee. Route description Shelby County SR 15 begins as a secondary highway in Shelby County in Northern Memphis at an interchange with SR 14 (Austin Peay Highway). State Route 241 (SR 241) is a long north-south state highway that lies mostly in northwestern Lawrence County, Tennessee, with a small portion extending into southern Lewis County. Route description SR 241 begins in Lawrence County as Red Hill-Center Road at an intersection with US 64/SR 15 between Lawrenceburg and Deerfield. It heads northwest through farmland and rural areas to have an intersection and short concurrency with SR 240 before passing along the eastern edge of the Laurel Hill Wildlife Management Area as Napier Road. The highway then enters more wooded areas to cross into Lewis County, where it passes by the Natchez Trace Trading Post and the Natchez Trace RV Campground before taking a turn to the west to enter the Wildlife Management Area shortly before coming to an end at an interchange with the Natchez Trace Parkway, with the road continuing on as Napier Lake Road. State Route 242 (SR 242) is a north-south state highway that lies mostly in Lawrence County, Tennessee. It connects Iron City with Henryville via Westpoint and Lawrenceburg. Route description SR 242 begins in Lawrence County in Iron City at an intersection with SR 227. It heads north as Wayland Springs Road to temporarily cross into Wayne County before returning to Lawrence County and leaving Iron City to wind its way northeast through mountains, running parallel to Shoal Creek.
