Tennessee State Route 233
State Route 233 (SR 233) is a secondary state highway located in northwestern Middle Tennessee. The length of the route is an estimated total of through southern Stewart and southwestern Montgomery Counties. Route description SR 233 begins in southern Stewart County at a junction with SR 49 in Carlisle. SR 233 goes on an easterly course, running parallel to the Cumberland River to enter Cumberland City, where it passes by the Cumberland Fossil Plant before entering downtown. It then comes to an intersection with SR 46 and SR 434, where it becomes concurrent with SR 46 to cross the Cumberland River via a ferry. SR 233 separates from SR 46 and winds its way northeast to cross into Montgomery County. SR 233 continues to wind its way northeast through rural areas before coming to an end at a junction with US 79 ( SR 76) on the western edge of Woodlawn. Cumberland Fossil Plant
Cumberland Fossil Plant is a pulverized coal- fired power station located west of Cumberland City, Tennessee, USA, on the south bank of Lake Barkley on the Cumberland River. Owned and operated by Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA), it has a gross capacity of 2,470 MW, and is the most powerful power station in Tennessee. Description Commissioned in 1968, the Cumberland Fossil Plant contains two identical units, rated at 1.235 GWe gross each, Units 1 and 2 were launched into service in March and November 1973, respectively. In 2004, the two units accounted for almost 12% of TVA's total electricity generation. As of the mid 2010s, however, TVA's Sequoyah Nuclear Plant near Soddy Daisy, Tennessee, with a slightly lower capacity, was generating more power. The Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) is a federally owned electric utility corporation in the United States. State Route 76 (SR 76) is a state highway in Tennessee, traversing the state in a northeast-southwest axis from east of Memphis to north of Nashville. SR 76 is unique in that it actually changes its cardinal directions (from North-South to East-West) in Clarksville at the junction with US 41A and US 41A Bypass. State Route 49 (SR 49) is a state highway in Tennessee. The route forms a broad southern arc that passes through the rural Middle Tennessee towns of Dover, Erin, Charlotte, Ashland City, Pleasant View, and Springfield. Route description SR 49 begins in Stewart County in downtown Dover at a junction with US 79/ SR 76 as a primary highway. It goes east, paralleling the Cumberland River before turning south and having an intersection with SR 233. It then goes through some farmland and hills before crossing into Houston County. Middle Tennessee is one of the three Grand Divisions of the U.S. state of Tennessee that composes roughly the central portion of the state.
