Tenmile Creek (Lane County, Oregon)
Tenmile Creek is a stream in Lane County, in the U.S. state of Oregon. It flows west from the Siuslaw National Forest in the Oregon Coast Range into the Pacific Ocean at Stonefield Beach State Recreation Site, about south of Yachats. Tenmile Creek was named for its length, approximately . Tenmile Ridge, which runs parallel to and north of the stream, is named for the creek. Tenmile Creek Bridge carries U.S. Highway 101 over the creek. Bridge engineer Conde B. McCullough designed the -long structure in 1931. Ten Mile County Park, operated by Lane County, is along the stream. Amenities include toilets and four tent sites, with access to fishing and hunting. The park is about upstream of Highway 101 along Forest Service Road 56. Lane County, Oregon
Lane County is one of the 36 counties in the U.S. state of Oregon. As of the 2020 census, the population was 382,971, making it the fourth-most populous county in Oregon. The county seat is Eugene. It is named in honor of Joseph Lane, Oregon's first territorial governor. Lane County comprises the Eugene, OR Metropolitan Statistical Area. Oregon Coast Range
The Oregon Coast Range, often called simply the Coast Range and sometimes the Pacific Coast Range, is a mountain range, in the Pacific Coast Ranges physiographic region, in the U.S. state of Oregon along the Pacific Ocean. This north-south running range extends over from the Columbia River in the north on the border of Oregon and Washington, south to the middle fork of the Coquille River. It is wide and averages around in elevation above sea level. The coast range has three main sections, a Northern, Central, and Southern. Siuslaw National Forest
The Siuslaw National Forest ( ) is a national forest in western Oregon in the United States. Established in 1908, the Siuslaw is made up of a wide variety of ecosystems, ranging from coastal forests to sand dunes. Geography The Siuslaw National Forest encompasses more than along the central Oregon Coast between Coos Bay and Tillamook, and in some places extends east from the ocean, beyond the crest of the Oregon Coast Range, almost reaching the Willamette Valley. Yachats ( ) is a small coastal city in the southernmost area of Lincoln County, Oregon, United States. According to ''Oregon Geographic Names'', the name comes from the Siletz language and means "dark water at the foot of the mountain". There is a range of differing etymologies, however. Ten Mile Creek Bridge (No. 01181) is a Conde McCullough-designed bridge near Yachats in Lane County in the U.S. state of Oregon. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2005.
