''Tempos Modernos'' (English: ''Modern Times'') is a Brazilian telenovela produced and broadcast by TV Globo. It premiered on 11 January 2010, replacing ''Caras & Bocas'', and ended on 16 July 2010, replaced by ''Ti Ti Ti''. The series is written by Bosco Brasil, with the collaboration of Izabel de Oliveira, Maria Elisa Berredo, Mário Teixeira and Patrícia Moretzsohn. It stars Fernanda Vasconcellos, Thiago Rodrigues, Antônio Fagundes, and Eliane Giardini. Priscila Fantin, Danton Mello, Marcos Caruso, Regiane Alves, Vivianne Pasmanter, Otávio Muller, Felipe Camargo, and Malu Galli also star in main roles. Telenovela
A telenovela is a type of a television serial drama or soap opera produced primarily in Latin America. The word combines ''tele'' (for "television") and ''novela'' (meaning "novel"). Similar drama genres around the world include '' teleserye'' (Philippines), '' téléroman'' (Canada, specifically Quebec), and ''sinetron'' (Indonesia). Commonly described using the American colloquialism Spanish soap opera, many telenovelas share some stylistic and thematic similarities to the soap opera familiar to the English-speaking world. The significant difference is their series run length; telenovelas tell one self-contained story, typically within the span of a year or less whereas soap operas tend to have intertwined storylines told during indefinite, continuing runs. This makes them shorter than most other television series, but still much longer than a miniseries. Eliana Pittman
Eliana Pittman (born Eliana Leite Da Silva; August 14, 1945), is a Brazilian former singer and actress. Pittman was one of the more soulful singers of the early 1970s. The stepdaughter of the jazz saxophonist Booker Pittman, she was deeply influenced and encouraged by him to become an artist, as he was her first music teacher, mentor and partner on some records. With a distinctive swinging voice and intensity in her style, Pittman was a brilliant scat singer who turned insipid novelty tunes and light pop into definitive, jazz based treatment. Kelly Cristina dos Santos, better known as Cris Vianna (born April 11, 1977) is a Brazilian actress, model, and former singer. Biography Vianna was born in São Paulo. Débora Susan Duke (born January 2, 1950) best known as Débora Duarte, is a Brazilian actress. Early life Débora was born in São Paulo, Brazil. She is the daughter of actress Marisa Sanches with the American musician, Douglas Duke.
