Temple Owls Men's Soccer
The Temple Owls men's soccer program represents Temple University in all NCAA Division I men's college soccer competitions. Founded in 1926, the Owls compete in the American Athletic Conference. The Owls are coached by Brian Rowland, who was hired as the program's head coach in December 2017. Temple plays their home matches at Temple Owls Sports Complex, on the campus of Temple University. Bryan Green
Bryan Alexander Green (born 30 June 1957) is a former Australian politician. He was the leader of the parliamentary Labor Party in Tasmania from 2014 to 2017, and a member of the Tasmanian House of Assembly in the electorate of Braddon from 1998 to 2017. Early life A native of New South Wales, Green was born in Wollongong. His family later moved to George Town, Tasmania and then to Burnie, Tasmania, where he attended Burnie High School and Burnie Technical College. Intercollegiate Soccer Football Association
The NCAA held its first men's National Collegiate Soccer Championship in 1959, with eight teams selected for the tournament. Before 1959, national champions were selected by a committee of the Intercollegiate Soccer Football Association (ISFA) based on season records and competition. In addition, the College Soccer Bowl tournament was held from 1950–1952 (following the 1949–1951 seasons) for the purpose of deciding a national champion on the field. The Soccer Bowl was a one-site competition involving four teams selected by college soccer administrators. NCAA Division I Men's Soccer Tournament
The NCAA Division I men's soccer tournament, sometimes known as the College Cup, is an American intercollegiate soccer tournament conducted by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), and determines the Division I men's national champion. The tournament has been formally held since 1959, when it was an eight-team tournament. Since then, the tournament has expanded to 48 teams, in which every Division I conference tournament champion is allocated a berth. Among the most successful programs, Saint Louis won 10 titles during dynasty years between 1959 and 1973. Walter Chyzowych
Walter Chyzowych ( ua, Володимир Чижович, Volodymyr Chyzhovych) (April 20, 1937 – September 2, 1994) was a Ukrainian-born football (soccer), soccer player who played for Philadelphia Ukrainians, Philadelphia Ukrainian Nationals and Newark Ukrainian Sitch, Newark Sitch of the American Soccer League (1933-1983), American Soccer League and was later a coach for the United States men's national soccer team, United States national soccer team. Len Oliver (soccer)
Leonard Paul Oliver (November 3, 1933 – July 24, 2022) was an American soccer player who played as a half back in the American Soccer League (ASL), having earlier played college soccer for the Temple Owls. He was a member of the National Soccer Hall of Fame. Early life The younger half of a set of twins, Oliver was born in the Kensington neighborhood of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in 1933. His father, Jim, immigrated to the United States from Scotland a decade earlier. Oliver attended Northeast High School in his hometown. He played soccer for the Kensington Blue Bells and Lighthouse Boys Club, winning the 1948 and 1949 U-19 National Championships with the latter. He also played for the Philadelphia Nationals of the American Soccer League (ASL) in 1946–1947, scoring thirteen goals in eighteen games. Jack Dunn (born September 12, 1931) was a U.S. soccer inside right who was a four-time All-American, a member of the U.S. soccer team at the 1952 Summer Olympics. He was a four-time All-American and coached at the collegiate level. Player Dunn grew up in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where he played for the Lighthouse Boys Club and was three-time All City at Northeast Public High School. He then attended Temple University, playing on the men's soccer team from 1951 to 1954. He was a 1951 Honorable Mention (third team) All-American, 1953 Second Team All-American and 1952 and 1954 First Team All-American. He graduated in 1955.
