Telok Kurau Secondary School
Telok Kurau Secondary School (TKSS) was a co-educational secondary school in Bedok, Singapore. History The school was established in 1965, and was small by Singapore standards, with a student population of 800 and permanent teaching staff of around 45. Closure At the end of 2010, Telok Kurau Secondary School was closed down and all students were transferred to Broadrick Secondary School. Academic Programme The school offered a four-year express programme leading to GCE 'O' Level, and an academic programme for the students who follow the Normal Academic and Normal Technical path. All Express students in Telok Kurau were offered pure physics, chemistry, and biology besides additional maths. Campus The school campus stood on Chin Cheng Avenue along Still Road, not far away from Eunos MRT station. Telok Kurau Primary School
This is a list of primary schools in Singapore. Children typically start their primary education in the year they turn seven. Primary education lasts six years, and is compulsory for all Singapore citizens. Primary schools in Singapore are classified as Government or Government-aided schools. Bedok
Bedok () is a planning area and matured residential town located in the geographical region of Tanah Merah along the south-eastern coast of the East Region of Singapore. Bedok is bounded by five other planning areas: Paya Lebar to the north, Hougang to the northwest, Tampines to the northeast and east, Geylang to the west and Marine Parade to the southwest. It also shares a maritime boundary with the Singapore Strait to the south and southeast. Population wise, Bedok is the largest planning area in the country, being home to approximately 280,000 residents. This high demographic is largely explained by the affordable public housing in Bedok New Town, due to its relatively distant location from the Central Area. Eunos MRT Station
Eunos MRT station is an above-ground Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) station on the East West MRT Line in Geylang, Singapore. It is located next to the Eunos Bus Interchange. The station was named in honour of an early Malay pioneer, Muhammad Eunos bin Abdullah, who secured 700-hectares of land for Malay settlements in the area called Jalan Eunos Malay Settlement (Kampung Melayu). Design The station has a different style of architecture from other stations on the eastern part of the East West Line, having been designed with a traditional Malay roof structure ( Atap Minangkabau) and with a shape similar to the stations in the western part of the East-West Line ( Chinese Garden to Boon Lay stations), and the northern part of the North South Line ( Bukit Batok to Khatib stations) except for Woodlands, using modern materials such as steel beams, similar to that of the Eunos Bus Interchange. Muhamad Faisal Manap
Muhamad Faisal bin Abdul Manap ( Jawi: ; born 1975) is a Singaporean politician who has been serving as Vice-Chairman of the Worker's Party since 2016. He has been the Member of Parliament (MP) representing the Kaki Bukit division of Aljunied GRC since 2011. Education Faisal attended Eunos Primary School and Telok Kurau Secondary School before graduating from Singapore Polytechnic in 1995 with a diploma in civil and structural engineering. He subsequently went on to complete a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology at Monash University in 2005. The Aljunied Group Representation Constituency is a five-member group representation constituency (GRC) in the north-eastern and eastern region of Singapore. The GRC consists of five divisions: Eunos, Bedok Reservoir-Punggol, Kaki Bukit, Serangoon and Paya Lebar. Woon Tai Ho () (born 26 July 1958), is a TV producer, art collector and writer. He is the founder of Channel NewsAsia. Early life Woon grew up in Geylang, where he would organise 20-cent magic lantern shows for the neighbourhood with his twin brother, former MediaCorp Raintree Pictures CEO and Homerun Asia founder Daniel Yun. His father, a chef, died when he was in secondary school, and his mother tried various ways to care for her two sons and two daughters, including running a food stall.
