Sam Rayburn Independent School District . Sam Rayburn Independent School District is a public school district based in the community of Ivanhoe, Texas (USA). In addition to Ivanhoe, the district also serves the communities of Telephone and Elwood in north central Fannin County. The district was formed in 1964 by the consolidation of the North Fannin and Telephone districts, and was named after Sam Rayburn (the long-time Speaker of the United States House of Representatives who was from Fannin County). Sherman is a U.S. city in and the county seat of Grayson County, Texas. The city's population in 2020 was 43,645. It is one of the two principal cities in the Sherman–Denison metropolitan statistical area, and it is part of the Texoma region of North Texas and southern Oklahoma. History Sherman was named after General Sidney Sherman (July 23, 1805 – August 1, 1873), a hero of the Texas Revolution. Bonham is a city and the county seat of Fannin County, Texas. The population was 10,408 at the 2020 census. James Bonham (the city's namesake) sought the aid of James Fannin (the county's namesake) at the Battle of the Alamo. Bonham is part of the Texoma region in north Texas and south Oklahoma.
