Telefantasya
Fantaserye or telefantasya is a genre of Philippines, Philippine television programming which mixes soap opera, telenovela, fantasy, mythology, myth, magic (paranormal), magic and enchantment. The episodes are usually 30 minutes long and have a daily slot in the evening primetime row. Usage The term fantaserye is often used to refer to ABS-CBN's fantasy series. The first official fantaserye was ''Marina (Philippine TV series), Marina,'' a series about a girl cursed to become a mermaid. Telefantasya often refers to the creations of GMA Network; their first telefantasya was ''Mulawin,'' a series about a humanoid bird who fell in love with a girl who was later revealed to be part-bird. Marina (sometimes stylized as ''MARiNA'') is a Philippine television drama fantasy series broadcast by ABS-CBN, starring Claudine Barretto. It aired from February 23 to November 12, 2004. Synopsis Elias, a fisherman, falls in love with and marries Esther; spurning the love of Victoria, a witch. Heartbroken, the vengeful Victoria places a curse on Esther and Elias's unborn child. In the hopes that Victoria will lift the curse on his child, Elias abandons Esther for Victoria and they have a child of their own, Luna. ''Super Inggo'' is a Philippine fantaserye aired on ABS-CBN. Its main character is Budong (Makisig Morales), a 10-year-old kid who dreams of becoming a real-life and full-fledged superhero. Unbeknownst to him, he possesses superhuman strength and abilities which he inherited from his Superhero father and Villain mother. ''Carlo J. Caparas' Panday'' or simply ''Panday'' () is a Philippine fantasy television series on ABS-CBN. The pilot episode of the first book (''Panday: Unang Yugto'') aired on November 7, 2005, replacing ''Ikaw ang Lahat sa Akin'' and ended with its last episode on December 9, 2005. A telenovela is a type of a television serial drama or soap opera produced primarily in Latin America. The word combines ''tele'' (for "television") and ''novela'' (meaning "novel"). Similar drama genres around the world include '' teleserye'' (Philippines), '' téléroman'' (Canada, specifically Quebec), and ''sinetron'' (Indonesia). Commonly described using the American colloquialism Spanish soap opera, many telenovelas share some stylistic and thematic similarities to the soap opera familiar to the English-speaking world.
