Teguh Karya
Teguh Karya (born Steve Liem Tjoan Hok; ; 22 September 1937 – 11 December 2001) was an Indonesian film director. Starting his entertainment career in theatre, he made his directorial debut with '' Wadjah Seorang Laki-Laki'', released three years later. He later directed numerous critically acclaimed films, including '' Cinta Pertama'', '' Badai Pasti Berlalu'', and ''November 1828''. In 2001 Karya died from complications from a 1998 stroke. Biography Teguh Karya was born Steve Liem Tjoan Hok on 22 September 1937 in Pandeglang, Banten. He was the first child of Chinese Indonesians Laksana Karya (Tjon Hok) and Naomi Yahya; there was some Bantenese descent from his grandmother. He attended elementary school in Pandeglang, but moved to Jakarta for junior high school, where he struggled with the exact sciences but did well in the creative arts and history. Indonesian Film Festival
The Indonesian Film Festival (Indonesian: Festival Film Indonesia, 'FFI') is an annual awards ceremony organised by the Indonesian Film Board and the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology to celebrate cinematic achievements in the Indonesian film industry. During the festival, the ''Piala Citra'' winners are announced and the best Indonesian films of the year are presented. The awards ceremony was first held in 1955 as the Pekan Apresiasi Film Nasional (National Film Appreciation Week). It changed to Festival Film Indonesia in 1973. In 1986, the festival included awards for television movies with an award called ''Piala Vidia''. ''Pacar Ketinggalan Kereta'' (''Lover Left by the Train'') is a 1989 film by Indonesian director Teguh Karya. It was his last feature film. Plot At a party celebrating the Padmos (Rachmat Hidayat and Tuti Indra Malaon) 25th wedding anniversary, a fit of jealousy breaks out. Mrs Padmo is jealous of her husband's secretary, Retno ( Niniek L. Karim), who often rides in the same car as Mr Padmo. Meanwhile, the Padmos' son Heru (Onky Alexander) is with Ipah (Nurul Arifin), while the family's driver Martubi (Alex Komang) is with Retno's maid Juminten (Nani Vidia). ''Ibunda'' (''Mother'') is a 1986 Indonesian film directed by Teguh Karya. Telling of a family's struggles in Jakarta, it set a new record at the 1986 Indonesian Film Festival when it won nine Citra Awards. Plot The ethnic Javanese family headed by Rakhim ( Tuti Indra Malaon) is living in Jakarta and trying to make a living. ''Di Balik Kelambu'' (''Behind the Mosquito Net'') is a 1983 Indonesian film directed by Teguh Karya. It stars Christine Hakim and Slamet Rahardjo. Plot Hasan (Slamet Rahardjo) and Nurlela (Christine Hakim) are a newly married couple living at the home of Nurlela's father (Maruli Sitompul) because they do not have enough money to find a place of their own. Marga Tjoa (born 27 January 1943) is an Indonesian popular romance and children's literature writer better known by the pen name Marga T. One of Indonesia's most prolific writers, she first became well known in 1971 for her serial ''Karmila'' that was published as a book in 1973 and later made into a film. Herlina Christine Natalia Hakim (born 25 December 1956) is an Indonesian actress, film producer, and activist.
