Ibunda
''Ibunda'' (''Mother'') is a 1986 Indonesian film directed by Teguh Karya. Telling of a family's struggles in Jakarta, it set a new record at the 1986 Indonesian Film Festival when it won nine Citra Awards. Plot The ethnic Javanese family headed by Rakhim ( Tuti Indra Malaon) is living in Jakarta and trying to make a living. Rakhim, a widow, is raising her youngest daughter, Fitri (Ria Irawan) with the help of her second child. Her eldest, Farida ( Niniek L. Karim), has married the ''nouveau riche'' Gatot (Galeb Husin). Meanwhile, the third child, Zulfikar (Alex Komang), has become an actor. Two issues arise at roughly the same time. Zulfikar has left his wife (Ayu Azhari) and young child for a cougar with whom he is sleeping to further his career. Tuti Indra Malaon
Tuti Indra Malaon (1 December 1939 – 20 September 1989), born Pudjiastuti Suratno, was an Indonesian actress, dancer, and lecturer. Early life Malaon was born with the name Pudjiastuti Suratno on 1 December 1939 to Suratno Sastroamidjojo, a Javanese civil servant, and his wife. She was the sixth of ten children born to the couple. At the age of three, she became interested in dancing after watching traditional gamelan and dance performances at the home of a family friend. As her father was restationed, the family often moved around Java. On 17 August 1950, during Independence Day celebrations, she performed for President Sukarno at the presidential palace; she was also a cultural ambassador to Japan, China, and the Soviet Union. She was enrolled in a dance school, but later dropped out. Teguh Karya
Teguh Karya (born Steve Liem Tjoan Hok; ; 22 September 1937 – 11 December 2001) was an Indonesian film director. Starting his entertainment career in theatre, he made his directorial debut with '' Wadjah Seorang Laki-Laki'', released three years later. He later directed numerous critically acclaimed films, including '' Cinta Pertama'', '' Badai Pasti Berlalu'', and ''November 1828''. In 2001 Karya died from complications from a 1998 stroke. Biography Teguh Karya was born Steve Liem Tjoan Hok on 22 September 1937 in Pandeglang, Banten. He was the first child of Chinese Indonesians Laksana Karya (Tjon Hok) and Naomi Yahya; there was some Bantenese descent from his grandmother. He attended elementary school in Pandeglang, but moved to Jakarta for junior high school, where he struggled with the exact sciences but did well in the creative arts and history. Ayu Azhari
Khadijah Azhari (born 19 November 1967), better known as Ayu Azhari, is an Indonesian actress, model and author of mixed Indian and Sundanese descent. Biography Azhari was born on 19 November 1967. She comes from Bangka, the oldest of seven children of H. Abdullah Azhari and Hj. Khairani. Azhari made her feature film début in 1984 in ''Akibat Buah Terlarang'' (''Effects from the Forbidden Fruit''). Director Teguh Karya, who saw her in the film, adopted her as a protégée. Wim Umboh
Ahmad Salim (26 March 1933 – 24 January 1996), better known by his birth name Wim Umboh but also known by the Chinese name Liem Yan Yung, was an Indonesian director who is best known for his melodramatic romances. Born in North Sulawesi, Umboh was orphaned at the age of eight and later adopted by a Chinese-Indonesian doctor. After high school, he moved to Jakarta and found work at Golden Arrow Studios as a janitor and, later, translator. In 1955 he made his screen debut as a director with ' (''Behind the Walls''). During his career, which spanned more than forty years, Umboh directed close to fifty movies, which garnered 29 Citra Awards from the Indonesian Film Festival.
