Teenage Millionaire
''Teenage Millionaire'' is a 1961 American comedy film directed by Lawrence Doheny and written by Lawrence Doheny and Harry Spalding. The film stars Jimmy Clanton, Rocky Graziano, ZaSu Pitts, Diane Jergens, Valerie Ziegler, Cheyenne Boyer, Gabriella Taliani, Gloria Prosser Maurice Gosfield and Eileen O'Neill. The film was released on August 17, 1961, by United Artists. Plot Bobby Schultz goes to live with his Aunt Theodora and her butler-bodyguard Rocky following the sudden deaths of his parents. At a radio station she owns, Bobby takes a job and meets a girl, Bambi, who circulates a new record on which Bobby is a vocalist. As the song catches on and Bobby's reputation grows, Theodora decides it is not to the boy's benefit and decides to sell the radio station. Bobby is then drafted into the Army, saying goodbye to all at a farewell party in his honor. Lawrence Doheny
Lawrence Doheny (14 April 1924 - 7 September 1982) was an Irish-born American television and film director who directed more than 100 episodes of television from the 1950s to the 1980s. Born in Limerick, Doheny emigrated to the United States in the 1930s and began directing for television, first on the series '' The Big Story'' and ''Rescue 8''. In 1961 he wrote and directed a feature film, ''Teenage Millionaire''. This would be Doheny's only foray into feature films. For the rest of his career he directed television series, most notably ''Adam-12'' (13 episodes), ''The Rockford Files'' (12 episodes), ''Black Sheep Squadron'' (8 episodes), and ''Magnum, P.I.'' Chubby Checker (born Ernest Evans; October 3, 1941) is an American rock and roll singer and dancer. He is widely known for popularizing many dance styles, including The Twist dance style, with his 1960 hit cover of Hank Ballard & The Midnighters' R&B song " The Twist", and the Pony dance style with the 1961 cover of the song "Pony Time". __NOTOC__ Vicki Spencer (born 1945) is an American pop and rock singer. Spencer is the daughter of dancer Lou Spencer (of the Dunhill Trio dance team). She appeared as a teenage ingénue singer in two 1961 teen-oriented movies, ''Teenage Millionaire'' (starring Jimmy Clanton) and ''Twist Around the Clock'' (featuring Clay Cole). In both films she played herself, and most of her on-screen time was spent singing. Her song "I Wait" from ''Teenage Millionaire'' was released as a single, as was "Too Many Boyfriends" from ''Twist Around The Clock''. Spencer wrote both songs.
