Ted Robinson (TV Director)
Ted Robinson (born 1944) is an Australian television producer and director who is best known for his work and a director and producer of live TV comedy. Career Robinson began his TV career at the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, working on ''The Aunty Jack Show'', under the tutelage of series director Maurice M. Murphy. His TV directorial debut was in 1973, with the ABC sitcom '' Our Man in the Company''. In 1974 he took over from Murphy as director of the two Aunty Jack spinoff series, ''Wollongong the Brave'' and '' Flash Nick from Jindavik''. During the late 1970s he also co-hosted a regular radio show on Double Jay (2JJ) in Sydney, with actor Lex Marinos. Australian Broadcasting Corporation
The Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) is the national broadcaster of Australia. It is principally funded by direct grants from the Australian Government and is administered by a government-appointed board. The ABC is a publicly-owned body that is politically independent and fully accountable, with its charter enshrined in legislation, the ''Australian Broadcasting Corporation Act 1983''. ABC Commercial, a profit-making division of the corporation, also helps to generate funding for content provision. Live And Sweaty
''Live and Sweaty'' was an Australian sports television program, broadcast on the ABC from 1991 until 1994. Hosted by Andrew Denton (and later Elle McFeast), the show was part panel-based, part talk show and part comedy, and predated '' The Footy Show'' which has a similar format. ''Live and Sweaty'' regulars Andrew Denton was the show's host, and this was Denton's third series for the ABC (after ''Blah Blah Blah'' and ''The Money or the Gun''). The Longford Lyell Award is a lifetime achievement award presented by the Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts (AACTA), a non-profit organisation whose aim is "to identify, award, promote and celebrate Australia's greatest achievements in film and television." ''Good News Week'' is an Australian satirical panel game show hosted by Paul McDermott that aired from 19 April 1996 to 27 May 2000, and 11 February 2008 to 28 April 2012. The show's initial run aired on ABC until being bought by Network Ten in 1999. The show was revived for its second run when the 2007–2008 Writers Guild of America strike caused many of Network Ten's imported US programs to cease production. ''Good News Week'' drew its comedy and satire from recent news stories, political figures, media organisations, and often, aspects of the show itself. ''Chandon Pictures'' is an Australian comedy television series that premiered on Movie Extra on 10 November 2007 and ended on 7 May 2009. The series featured sixteen episodes and was a spin-off from a Tropfest short film produced by Rob Carlton and Alex Weinress. It followed the misadventures of a struggling video production company called 'Chandon Pictures.' Rob Carlton, who plays the main character, is the younger cousin of Brian Carlton, The Spoonman talkback host on the Austereo Triple M network. This was revealed when The Spoonman interviewed Rob. The show was a mixture of stand-up comedy, sketches, live music, circus acts, cabaret and burlesque. ''This Sporting Life'' is a 1963 British kitchen sink drama film directed by Lindsay Anderson. Based on the 1960 novel of the same name by David Storey, which won the 1960 Macmillan Fiction Award, it recounts the story of a rugby league footballer in Wakefield, a mining city in Yorkshire, whose romantic life is not as successful as his sporting life. Storey, a former professional rugby league footballer, also wrote the screenplay. The film stars Richard Harris, Rachel Roberts, William Hartnell, and Alan Badel.
