Teatro Simón Bolívar
The Teatro Simón Bolívar (''English:'' Simón Bolívar Theatre) is a cultural and theatre complex located in the Libertador Municipality of Caracas. It is in the Rialto building near the Yellow House, the La Francia building, and Plaza Bolívar. History The space began its history as the Princess Cinema in 1917, and was then known as the Rialto Cinema from 1919. It was closed in 1941 and reopened in 1943. For many years after the reopening it was affected by deterioration, so in the 21st century it was rebuilt, and expanded, becoming the Simón Bolívar Theatre. It was reopened again on 18 December 2013 by the authorities of the Capital District and the mayor's office of the Libertador Municipality of Caracas. Facilities It has 679 seats adorned with allegorical symbols to the Liberator Simón Bolívar. These include 504 seats in the balcony and a multipurpose room with capacity for 175 people. The Libertador Bolivarian Municipality ( es, Municipio Bolivariano Libertador) is the only administrative division of the Capital District and along with the municipalities of Baruta, Chacao, El Hatillo and Sucre forms the Metropolitan District of Caracas. Yellow House (Venezuela)
The Casa Amarilla de Caracas (''English'': Yellow House) is a 19th Century neoclassical building in Plaza Bolívar, Caracas and in front of the Santa Ana Cathedral, in the city's main historic quarter. Originally, it served as the headquarters of the Royal Jail of Caracas and the City Council but, after being reformed, it was used as the government palace and official residence of presidents including Francisco Linares Alcántara and Cipriano Castro. Since 1912 it has been the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. On 16 February 1979, the Yellow House was designated a National Historical Monument. Simón José Antonio de la Santísima Trinidad Bolívar y Palacios (24 July 1783 – 17 December 1830) was a Venezuelan military and political leader who led what are currently the countries of Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador, Peru, Panama and Bolivia to independence from the Spanish Empire. He is known colloquially as '' El Libertador'', or the ''Liberator of America''. Simón Bolívar was born in Caracas in the Captaincy General of Venezuela into a wealthy criollo family. Teatro Municipal Of Caracas
The Teatro Municipal of Caracas is an opera house in Venezuela. It was inaugurated by President Guzmán Blanco in 1881. The theatre was initially named after the president. Construction The building was designed by Esteban Ricard, a French architect who left Venezuela before the project was completed. It was finished under the direction of the Venezuelan engineer Jesús Muñoz Tébar. The building incorporates structural ironwork imported from Great Britain, as there was no domestic production at the time. In 1896, President Joaquín Crespo commemorated General José Tadeo Monagas by erecting a statute of him in front of the theatre in a move for political unity. The building was modified in 1949 to facilitate redevelopment of central Caracas. Teresa Carreño Cultural Complex
The Teresa Carreño Cultural Complex (''Complejo Cultural Teresa Carreño''), also known as Teresa Carreño Theater (''Teatro Teresa Carreño''), is the most important theatre of Caracas and Venezuela, where performances include symphonic and popular concerts, opera, ballet and plays. It is the second largest theater in South America after the Néstor Kirchner Cultural Centre at Buenos Aires. The theatre was built on a lot and named after the Venezuelan pianist Teresa Carreño.
